FWMBC Members and Friends,
Can you believe it?  It is February already.  I still celebrate Valentine's Day and Black History Month.  We will have programs this month that highlight the achievements of Black Americans.  I hope that you will join me in remembering the proud heritage that we have and the accomplishments that many people of color have made. And make sure we let our special persons know that we love them on Valentine's Day.

And remember, let us continue to pray for our sick and shut-in members as well.

                                WHO AM I?

But Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel our of Egypt?  And He said, "Certainly, I will be with you...

(Exodus 3:11,12)

Most of you know the story of Moses - he was born at a time when the Pharaoh had ordered that every Hebrew so born at that time was to be killed.  Moses however was saved by the Pharaoh's daughter hiding him and bringing him up as if he were her own son.  Moses was forces however to flee Egypt after killing an Egyptian soldier and he settled in the land of Midian.  He got married, had a son and was very content with his situation.  One day while he was tending sheep God spoke to Moses, telling him that he would bring the children of Israel out out of Egypt and start them on their way to the Promise Land.  Moses however did not believe that he was qualified for such an awesome task.  His response to God was, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh...?"

Many of us cannot see ourselves doing great things.  We underestimate our abilities. Sometimes our self-esteem is very low.  We would rather have someone else take on challenges.  We just want to stay within our comfort zones.  However, what would have happened if our ancestors had taken that same position?

Who are we?  We are somebody?  We can accomplishment great things.  If others can be successful, so can we.  And of course, we should always remember God's answer to Moses.  He stated, "CERTAINLY, I WILL BE WITH YOU!"  God will never leave us nor forsake us.

As we celebrate Black History Month, let us remember our proud heritage.  And let us become a part of future history by continuing the legacy of doing great things.
