Some of you may be football fans!  The Houston Texans have captured the hearts of many Houstonians.  I am not sure what the result will be on this coming Sunday when they go to Baltimore to play however it is clear that they have already accomplished a great deal... Another team that is capturing the hearts of the Nation is the Denver Broncos.  Primarily their quarterback, Tim Tebow, is the reason why.  Tebow does not hide the fact that he is a Christian.  In fact, he will get on one knee after his team scores and he gives thanks to the Lord.  Of course he has been criticized by the non-Christian community for such displays. I think it is great that he is not shy about his love for Christ.  In fact, I will be pulling for him to win the games he is involved in, with one exception.  That game is when they play the Texans, of course.

Please keep our sick and shut in members in prayer.

 BE SATISFIED WITH YOUR LIFE

And Abraham breathed his last and died in a ripe old age, an old man and "satisfied with life;" and he was gathered to his people.

(Genesis 25:8)

Many years ago as a young preacher, my pastor asked all of his associate preachers where we saw ourselves 10-20 years down the road.  Some talked about being a pastor some day.  Others talked about being evangelists.  However I was very impressed with an older preacher who said, "pastor, I just want to do what I am doing now for the Lord."  In reality he was a preacher who just wanted to serve wherever God wanted him.  If that was the case, he was satisfied with his life.

As we read the passage above, the writer (probably Moses) mentions that when Abraham died, he was satisfied with his life.  We all know that Abraham had experienced highs and lows during his life.  But through it all, he loved God and accepted God's will for his life.  He did not feel that he had missed anything in life.  God had supplied all of his needs.

As we go through life we should always strive to be the best that we can be.  But in the midst of our efforts, we need to take time and thank God for His goodness toward us.  Some people are always complaining, grumbling, and the like.  They are negative all of the time.  In essence, they are never satisfied.  I don't want to be like that.

I want to be like those persons who are positive about life.  They see the best that life has to offer even in difficult circumstances.  They realize that God is always close by.  I want to be satisfied with my life.  I don't want to be like anybody else, nor do I want to be somebody else.  Like Abraham, I am satisfied with my life.  What about you?  Are you satisfied with your life?  I hope so.  God made you to be His Son or Daughter, and that should give you all of the satisfaction that you need.
