FWMBC Members and Friends,
I hope that all of you experienced a satisfying Thanksgiving Holiday.  We are grateful to God always for His many blessings.  We are getting ready to celebrate the 67th Church Anniversary at FWMBC on December 11, 2011.  God has truly blessed our church family over these many years.  Keep in mind that the Anniversary service will begin at 11:30am this year in order to allow Dr. James Lightfoot (our guest speaker) and Mt. Zion Baptist Church time to leave their morning service and fellowship with us. We are looking for all of you to attend this important landmark in our church's history.  May God Bless you and Keep you.

Remember to pray for our sick and shut-in members.

WAIT ON THE LORD

Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!  (Psalm 27:14)

Are you a person who does not like waiting?  You don't like waiting in lines at the grocery store? Perhaps you are fed up with sitting in your Doctor's office for 2 hours before you are seen by the Doctor.  Many of us have developed a  microwave mentality.  We want everything to happen fast.  However, we generally find out that the Lord has His own timing.  The good thing about God's timing, is that it is always timely.  Like our grandmothers used to say, 'He may not come when you want Him, but He's always on time."  Since that is the case, we all need to learn to "Wait on the Lord!"

Psalm 27 is a Psalm of David.  David was being pursued by his enemies.  Although we cannot say for certain, it was probably Saul and his men (verses 2 and 3).  He wanted to be able to be in the House of the Lord (verse 4).  Even if his father and mother would forsake him (verse 10) he would wait on the Lord.  He had been slandered (verse 12).  Yet through it all he knew that God would deliver him.  In verse 14, his advice is to "wait on the Lord."

First of all, we should wait on the Lord because it brings us into God's timing.  God knows what is best for us and He will see that we receive it when it is best for us to have it.  Secondly, we should wait on the Lord as He prepares us for His answer.  We can avoid a lot of trouble in life when we wait for God to answer our concerns.  Thirdly, waiting on the Lord allows God to sift our motives.  Are we asking for things because we need them, or because we want to out-do the Jones'?  When God makes us wait, we can evaluate whether or not our request are needed. Fourthly,  waiting causes us to appreciate what we receive more.  If we received what we asked for right away, we may not appreciate it as much.  But when we have to wait for a while, we will enjoy it a lot more.

How should we wait?  We should wait actively.  Don't just twiddle your fingers while waiting.  Do something positive in the meantime.  But also wait patiently.  Don't get frustrated when it does not come when you want it.  Wait in faith.  Believe it will happen.  Give God praise for what is going to happen, even if it has not happened yet.  JUST KEEP REMEMBERING, IT WILL BE ON TIME!   WAIT ON THE LORD.
