 EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES

But He said to him, "A man was giving a big dinner, and he invited many; and at the dinner hour he sent his slave to say to those who had been invited, Come; for everything is ready now."  But they all alike began to make excuses.

 (Luke 14:16-18a)

If you are like me, you are given many invitations that you can't possibly accept for one reason or another.  Sometimes we have good excuses, and sometimes not so good.  These days we have to set priorities regarding what we can be involved in.  Unfortunately, we sometimes have God's business way down on our list of priorities.
In the passage above, Jesus tells a parable that essentially states that everyone has been invited to be involved with His Kingdom.  However, not everyone will enter the Kingdom of God.  Many will have excuses as to why they cannot accept His invitation.
God continually invites us to "ACCEPT" Jesus Christ as Savior.  God invites us to be "OBEDIENT" to His Word.  God invites us to "SERVE" in His Church and to "ENDURE" as His Servant.  However, many of us find excuses not to comply.
Some excuses for not "accepting" are: 1. Christianity does not make sense.   2.  I can come to Christ later in life.  I am not ready now.

Some excuses for not "obeying" are: 1. Its too hard.  2.  I will be in Heaven regardless.  3.  I am too young, I still have some wild oats to sow.  4.  God will forgive me anyway if I don't obey.
Some excuses for not "serving" are:  1. I don't have time.  2.  I don't like the people.  3.  I don't have the ability.  4.  I don't like what is going on.  5.  I'm too old.  6.  I'm too young.
Some excuses for not "enduring" are:  1. It's just too hard.  2.  I am tired after I take care of other things.  3.  God does not really care whether I get involved or not.  He has others that can do what needs to be done.
The truth is, we can find more time for God if we really try.  Even though we have excuses regarding His work, God never uses excuses not to bless us.  We still have food on our tables and clothes on our backs.  Thank God that He is not like us. He does not give, EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES.
