FWMBC Members and Friends,
The other day someone tried to label Christ by political affiliation.  It brought to mind something I heard a very wise man named C.W.Kimble say when asked whether God was a Conservative or a Liberal?  His answer: "God is neither one.  For the Lord can not be defined by the fraudulent and divisive politics of mankind.  God is love.  And in His government, the Lord is labeled by the sacrifice He made in shouldering His cross to Calvary's hill."  As we prepare to vote next month, let us try to emulate God as we make our selections.  Godly office holders will go far in governing in Godly ways.

Remember our sick and shut-in members.

BE OF GOOD CHEER AND BELIEVE GOD!

Wherefore sirs, be of good cheer; for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.  (Acts 27:25)

On more than one occasion I have told stories about fishing trips that I have had with a very good friend of mine who just happens to be my insurance agent as well.  On one of those trips, we found ourselves way out in the water when a storm came over and the waves were extremely high.  It is in times like those when you appreciate dry land.  Obviously we eventually got back, or I would not be writing this message.    However, I realized at that time the  fear of being in a boat during a storm.  I don't mind telling you that some serious prayers were being made.

In the passage above, Paul was on a ship with many others on the Mediterranean Sea.  Suddenly, a hurricane-like wind began to blow.  The storm was so fierce that even the seasoned sailors gave up all hope of getting out of the situation alive.  However Paul had a vision that they would get to land safely and all would be saved if they just stayed in the boat.  As the boat entered shallower water some soldiers thought about getting into a life boat to escape.  However Paul reminded them to stay in the boat and they would be saved.  You know the end of the story.  They followed Paul's advice and even though the ship was wrecked, no one lost their lives.

When the storms of life overtake you, do you think about abandoning ship and giving up?  As believers, we find so many promises in the Bible that encourage us to be strong and hold on when trouble comes our way.  Not only that, we should be of good cheer.  When we know whose we are, and who we are in Christ, we believe that God will bring us through every adversity.  So we can be cheerful even in the midst of the storm.

The next time you are in a storm, don't give up; stay in the boat and believe God will bring you safely to dry land.  And oh yes, be of good cheer in the meantime.
