FWMBC Members and Friends,

Recently I have been receiving calls from candidates who are running for political office.  I understand the need for candidates to have a platform to tell you what they stand for.  Of course the church is limited in how far it can go because of its tax exempt status.  However, I would encourage all of you to make sure that you are properly registered to vote and to acquaint yourselves with the positions that are to be filled.  Then learn something about the candidates so that you can make intelligent choices.  Remember, we cannot complain about our representatives if we do not participate in the election process.  There is a lot at stake.  Make your voice count.

As always, pray for our sick and shut in members.

                         GOD'S PLACE IN OUR LIVES

Harvest is past, summer is ended, And we are not saved.

                                (Jeremiah 8:20)

There is a tremendous challenge facing us today.  As people of God, we must accept our responsibility in these times of crisis to do all that we can to emphasize to others, "God's Place In Our Lives."  In the passage above, Jeremiah was probably feeling frustrated that people were going in the wrong direction.  In his frustrations, he complained to God about the misery of his office.  As a prophet, he continued to encourage his people to turn around by proclaiming the goodness and power of the Lord.  He continued to warn them concerning the terrible results of their disobedience.

In this Scripture, Jeremiah understood that a lot of time had passed, and people were still lost.  He realized that after all of this time, people and their circumstances were still in as bad a shape as they ever were.  He knew that a time would come when it would be too late to get "saved." Jeremiah decided, that regardless of how frustrating the times were; no matter how stressful life was; he could not sit by and watch his people perish without giving all of himself to God's work.  God truly had a place in Jeremiah's life.  The question for us today is, "Does God have a place in our lives?"

All of us should give God a place in our lives.

How do we give God a place in our lives?  First of all, we accept His Son Jesus Christ as our Savior. We must be "saved."  When we do that He comes into our lives and begins to respond to our problems.  If you give Him a place, He will be your guide;  If you give Him a place, He will be your Shepherd;  If you give Him a place, He will deliver you from a life of hopelessness.

We should also surrender our will to God's will.  God must have 1st place in our lives.  Not second place, not 3rd place, but 1st place.  When we give God 1st place, He will deal with our opposition.
The key to knowing whether or not you have given God a place in your life depends on whether you trust Him fully.  As I look back over my life, I thank God for having a "Place in my life."  Like Jeremiah, there have been times in my life when circumstances have been very frustrating.  But through it all, the Lord has been there for me.
Give God a place in your life!  Time is getting late and we cannot turn back the hands of time.  But you still have time to get saved.  You still have time to make Jesus the Lord of your life.  You still have time to surrender your life to Him.  Hopefully we can say one day, "The Harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we ARE ALL SAVED!
