WORKING TOGETHER IN FAITH
Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men. And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven you." (Mark 2:3-5)
Unfortunately, even Christians often find ourselves divided at times. We don't work together as we should to accomplish common goals. The passage above is an illustration of people working together to help someone in need. Our world, our nation, and our community could accomplish so much, if we just learned to put our differences aside and work together.
When Jesus returned to Capernaum it did not take long for the news to circulate that He was preaching in a particular home. Four men, who cared about their paralyzed friend decided to get their friend to Jesus. They believed that Jesus could, and would heal the friend. Their faith paid off. Jesus healed the man of his infirmities.
As members of the body of Christ, we should all be concerned enough to help others as we are able to do so. These men had "FAITH" that Jesus would meet the needs of their friend. We should also have faith in Jesus Christ. Not only is Jesus able to heal, but He will do it if we seek Him. We should act upon our beliefs by doing something that will bless others.
These four men were not discouraged by difficult circumstances. Sure enough, some situations are difficult to accomplish and some people are difficult to work with. Some people would say that "its just not worth it to try." But if we don't try to work together, we certainly won't accomplish anything together.
The four men dared to do something different. Getting up on the roof and lowering the friend down was not easy. But they cared that much about their friend. Sometimes, we may need to try some things different for the cause of Christ.
I believe we can do great things through Christ Who strengthens us, if "WE WORK TOGETHER IN FAITH!"
