TIME IS IMPORTANT!
"...redeeming the time, because the days are evil." (Ephesians 5:15b)
A few nights ago, the nationally known quartet, ENDURANCE, played it's new single, "RIGHT ON TIME," during its radio broadcast. Of course we claim "Endurance" because of our close relationship with the members of the group. I have no doubt that the new song will be a hit. After the broadcast, I began to think about the importance of "time." Sometimes we fail to realize that "time is filled with swift transition." Many of us take for granted that we will have a long time to accomplish our goals and desires. But it is important to use the time that we have available to us wisely.
Are any of you habitually late? Do you assume that the world will stand still until you arrive? Do you put off doing something because you believe that tomorrow will be soon enough to get it done? When tomorrow comes, do you find another reason not to do what you said that you would do? Be careful because you may "not" get another "tomorrow" to do what you should do today.
In the passage above, Paul reminded the Ephesian Church that "the days were evil." Therefore they were to use their time wisely. Of course that is good advice for us today as well. Few people would disagree with the fact that our world is in trouble. Evil is all around us and having quite an impact. Paul was communicating a sense of urgency at that time. We should take Paul's advice seriously. The difficulties that we face should convince us to act wisely and do good whenever we can, and while we can.
When we use our time in ways that God will be pleased, He is moved to show up in our situations when we need Him most. Our struggles are opportunities for God to intervene and deliver us from our adversaries. If we do not use our time wisely, we are vulnerable during these evil days.
Redeem your time wisely, and when trouble comes, be confident that God will come, "RIGHT ON TIME!" Yes, time is important.
