FWMBC Members and Friends,
It is my sincere hope that this Christmas will be joyous for you.  However I realize that all of us have loved ones who will not be with us this year for one reason or another.  This is an excellent time to contact family and friends whom you can, and let them know that they are special to you.  People need people.  Accordingly, why not take it upon yourself to call  someone that you have not communicated with in a long time and tell them that you are thinking about them.

God Bless you and Keep you!  Please pray for our sick and shut in members.

 THE WORD BECAME FLESH

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)

Christianity teaches that God became a human person so that men could actually see him.  I have discussed this fact with individuals of other religious persuasions and they cannot conceive of such a possibility.  There were some in the early church who did not believe it either.  But those of us who are true to the Scripture believe that Jesus was fully God, and yes, He was fully man.

John's Gospel made it clear that in the beginning, Jesus is none other than God's creative and life-giving Word as well as the power of God which created the world.  The Word was pre-existent.  Accordingly Jesus was pre-existent.  The life of Jesus Christ was a manifestation of God's glory.  Perhaps we all may have to pause for a moment as we try to understand this fact.  But one thing is clear and should help us celebrate this Holiday.  God made Himself flesh in order to become a perfect sacrifice for our sins and to be an example of how we are to live.

Whether or not we relate more to the Baby Jesus who is depicted in the Gospel Books of Matthew and Luke, or John's depiction, we can be assured that Jesus was Divine in nature.  Before Christ came, people could know God partially.  After Christ came, people could know God fully because He became visible and tangible in Christ.   And I am so glad that He came.

In our family we pull names as we give to adult members and we see to it that the children are each given something.  I know in Scripture, the gifts were given to Baby Jesus, so we are not relying on Scripture for validation.  In years when our daughters were small I even found myself on top of the house hanging Christmas lights.  Well, I am too old to get on top of the house now, but I still find myself singing many of the Christmas songs that bring back fond memories.  Also I never let the opportunity pass, at our Christmas gatherings, to tell people the "Good News" as to the reason we are actually celebrating.  That "Good News" is:  "The Word Became Flesh And Dwelt Among Us!
