FWMBC Members and Friends,
One newscaster described the recent election results as a "split decision."  We often hear that phrase used in boxing when the conclusions of the judges are not unanimous as to who won.  In respect to the elections, the Republican majority will now lead the House of Representatives, while Democrats will still have the majority in the Senate.  This can result in gridlock, with less legislation being passed; or it can result in more compromise between the parties, where more legislation is passed.  Our prayer is that the latter will occur.  We need to move on in the best interest of the Country.  No matter what party you affiliate with, let's pray that we can come together and get something done.

Please pray for our sick and shut-in members.

 HE WILL DIRECT YOUR PATH

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5,6)

Do you ever have the feeling of being lost?  Perhaps you are not sure which direction to take.   If so, you are not alone.  When I was a Boy Scout, I was taught to use a compass.  The key to using the compass effectively was to focus on true north.  You would then be able to get your bearings and head in the direction that you wanted to go.  In life, we often find ourselves in need of a moral compass.  On a daily basis we are faced with many decisions.  How can we know which decision will be the right one to make?  After all, our understandings are limited.  In addition, many times people misunderstand what we are trying to do.  Without direction, we can take the wrong paths and end up lost again.

In the passage above, Solomon tells us that there is one who can make our decisions easier.  Of course, he is speaking of the Lord.  The Lord is our compass.  The Lord and His Word are "true north."  We are to trust Him with all of our hearts and lean not unto our own understandings.  Even the smartest person can misunderstand what choices to make sometimes. A wrong turn can sometimes leave us in a disastrous situation.  But the Lord will always lead us in the right direction.

In every thing we do, we should ask the Lord for help in making decisions.  Perhaps in the past you have just asked Him for help when major problems arose.  But the passage above is saying that we should ask for help in all of our ways.  In essence, no decision is to small to ask God to lead us in.  When we come to Him for help, He will direct our path.  His way is always the right way.

It is normal to lose our way sometimes.  We may get off of the beaten pathway.  But when we do, we know that we don't need to stay lost for long. When you pray, ask God for guidance.  If we trust God with all of our hearts; lean not on our own understandings; and acknowledge Him, He will direct our paths.
