FWMBC Members and Friends,
This morning on the Television News I was moved by seeing the faces of children, wives, and other family members as they greeted their loved ones back from Iraq.  What a wonderful picture.  President Obama stated that combat had ended there and troops were coming home (except for the contingency troops that would oversee the transfer of power). We are very proud of the men and women of the United States Military who all served our county admirably.  Our prayers are for them; as well as the families of those soldiers who were killed in action.  Let us continue to pray for those who had to remain a while longer, and for those who are stationed in Afghanistan.  We look forward to the day when there will be no more wars.  Until that time, prayers will be the order of the day for those who continue to bravely protect us.

Remember our sick and shut-in members in prayer.

 REMEMBER EACH OTHER IN PRAYER!

I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day...  (2 Timothy 1:3)

Quite a few years ago I sang in the Men's Chorus of our Church.  One of my favorite songs was "Pray For Me!" Not only did I realize that I needed prayer, but I wanted prayer.  I remember getting into mischief as a child and my great-grandmother telling me, "boy, I am going to pray for you."  Even then I invited her prayers because I knew that if my father heard about what I had done, I would need all of the prayer I could get.

Prayer is something that everyone can do for someone else.  It does not cost you anything to do; it does not take long to do; and you can do it wherever you may be.  It is not only good to pray for one another, but it encourages the person that you are praying for when you tell them that you will pray for them.   Who knows, it may be your prayer that moves God to respond favorably in their situations.

In the passage above, Paul tells Timothy that he remembers him in his prayers day and night.  Paul was in jail for the last time before he would be beheaded on Nero's chopping block.  He had a lot of time to pray.  I am sure there were many things that crossed his mind at that time and he probably prayed about many issues.  But the fact that he "remembered Timothy" in his prayers had to be uplifting to Timothy.  Some of "US" might have prayed about getting out of jail back then.  Or perhaps some of "US" would have concentrated our prayers on whether we could live a little longer.  Whether or not those ideas were in Paul's prayer is not apparent.  However, what is apparent is that Paul "remembered" Timothy in his prayers.

Do you pray for others?  Do you want others to pray for you?  How does it make you feel when someone tells you that they will pray for you?  Has anyone stopped what they were doing and prayed for you unexpectedly?  Have you asked to pray on the spot for someone that you were talking to?  What are you doing right now?  Why don't you take a minute right now and pray for someone.  God will be pleased, and I am sure they will be too.
