Have you ever tried to please someone special and no matter what you did for them you still came up short?  Finally you asked them what it would take to please them, and when they told you, it was a complete surprise to you.  

 

Most Christians want to please God very much.  We follow certain rules and try to treat everybody right.  Those things are good and should be done.  But the passage above gives a definite answer as to what we "must" have to please GOD!  We must have "FAITH." 

 

 What is Faith?  Well we can find many passages that give us help in answering that question.  For instance, faith is the substance of things hoped for (Hebrews 11:1).  And faith is the evidence of things not seen (11:1,7).  Faith is dependance on God's Word (11:7).  Faith allows us to trust in an unknown future (11:8-10).  Faith gives us an assurance of God's faithfulness (11:17-19).  Faith counts things that be not as though they were (11:11-12). Some have said that Faith is a down payment on what you desire to happen.  There are many other ways to describe Faith.  What is most important however to remember, is that we must have it to please God.  

 

Trials and tribulations are a part of our lives.  None of us will escape difficulties.   But during those times, we can honor God by demonstrating our faith.  Do we believe that God will take care of us?  Do we believe that He will never leave nor forsake us?  Do we have faith that He is working things out for our good?  If so, we are pleasing God.

 

When we please God, we are honoring God.  Certainly we let Him know that we trust Him and have confidence that His Word is true.  We honor Him by having Faith in all that He has provided for us.  In turn, God honors our faith in Him.  His honor toward our faith includes rewarding us for that faith.  

 

 Pleasing God should be our highest priority.  There are various ways we can accomplish that.  One of those ways, is by FAITH!
