FWMBC Members and Friends,
Congratulations to our Youth Ministry for making Hallelujah night a success.  I understand that it was well attended and the Youth had a very good time.

I am hoping that we will also have good participation in the Family and Friends Day Celebration this coming Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm.  Invite your family and friends for a powerful worship experience.

We still have seats available on the bus for the trip to  Gospel Fest II at Sanford's Temple COGIC in Texas City, Texas on November 21, 2009.  Let us try to go in a big way.

And finally, always remember to keep our sick and shut-in members and friends in prayer.

A PRAYERFUL CHOICE!

And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.  And they prayed, and said, Thou Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, show whether of these two thou hast chosen...And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.  (Acts 1:23, 24, 26)

We are faced with decisions daily.  Sometimes our choices are easy to make.  For instance, it is easy for me to decide that I need to brush my teeth every day.  However, deciding which particular brand of tooth paste that I use may require a little more thought.  This may sound like an insignificant example until you realize how many people suffer with dental problems resulting from making the wrong choice.  I have come to the conclusion that engaging in prayer before making decisions is always wise because some choices have major consequences.

In the passage above, the Apostles had an important choice to make.  They saw fit to replace the vacancy left by Judas.  Perhaps they were considering the fact that the Lord had promised the Apostles would sit on 12 thrones reigning over Christ's Kingdom of Israel when He returned.  In making this choice, they realized the importance of prayer (acknowledging God's omniscience).  It was only after prayer, that they drew lots (as a selection process) to determine God's will for who would be the 12th Apostle.  Matthias was chosen to serve in that position.

Do you pray before making important choices?   Do you approach each decision with a desire to know what God's will is in that situation?  Do you resolve to choose God's will even though you would personally come to a different conclusion?  The choice that the Apostles made was prayerfully reached. The instance of casting lots to determine God's will was the last one recorded by the New Testament writers.  There is no hint in Scripture that the decision the Apostles made in that situation was a mistake.  Do you see the need to pray in the selection of  our elected leaders? As you continually face important decisions in the future, it is my hope that you will take your lead from the Apostles, and make "A PRAYERFUL CHOICE."
