ARE YOU HIDING FROM GOD?
They heard the sound of the Lord walking in the Garden at the time of the evening breeze, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the Garden. But the Lord God called to the man, and said to him, "where are you?" (Genesis 3:8-9)
As a child I would play "hide and seek" with the other children. The object of the game was to hide so well that you would not be found. I would search for the best hiding places in the neighborhood so that I would be successful.
There are times in our lives even today when we do not want to be found. Have you ever tried to hide from the bill collectors? Or maybe from your boss? Perhaps you were successful in doing so. However, there is One who you can never successfully hide from. You can never hide from the Lord.
In the passage above, Adam and Eve realized that they had disobeyed God and were afraid. Certainly, God knew their situation. He is omniscient! If you are hiding from God it would be best to give up on that idea and present yourself to His service. There are many reasons why we may hide from God. All of them can be summarized in one word, "sin!" Like Adam and Eve, we rebel against God by doing what we want and not what He wants. Then when matters turn for the worse, we hide.
Are we doing what God wants for our lives? If not, let us consider today as if it were the first day of the "rest" of our lives. And when we are in God's will, there is no reason to hide from Him!
