This past weekend one of my classmates flew in from out of town to attend our high school class 60th birthday celebration.  On the plane she suffered a stroke and could not speak or move the limbs on her left side.  She was taken to the intensive care unit of a local hospital.  She missed the celebration in Galveston, but a couple of days ago she celebrated walking out of the hospital and getting on an airplane fully recovered.  She gives God the glory!  I feel uplifted when we have such praise reports.  Let us continue to pray for others who are facing great challenges.  I know that what God did for my classmate, He can, and will, do for others.

SOME MEMORIES SHOULD LAST!

Let this be a sign among you, so that when your children ask later, saying, "What do these stones mean to you?" then you shall say to them, Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; when it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off.  So these stones shall become a memorial to the sons of Israel forever. (Joshua 4:6,7)

This past weekend was a time of fellowship and celebration for many of my high school classmates.  I was able to attend the festivities Saturday night and was pleased to reunite with so many persons that I had not seen in over 40 years.  Our hearts and thoughts went out to the families of those classmates that had passed on before us.  We were also sad that many of our classmates who would like to have attended, could not, because of unavoidable circumstances.  We are all very fortunate however that we can reminisce about a time in our lives that we shared many experiences together.  The comradery that the members still have for one another is remarkable after all of these years.  It is a testament to the teachers, the parents, and the students of the class of 1967.
In the passage above,  the Lord spoke to Joshua, and directed him to build a memorial that would live on in the hearts and minds of the people for years to come.  God had brought them across the Jordan River into a new land.

Although our children are grown, Gladys and I continually remind them of those experiences in our lives that are important.  Do you also share with others, important memories from your past that should last?    Do you tell them your testimony from your encounters with the Lord?  I recall situations that the Lord delivered me from, that continually give me a source of encouragement when I face new challenges.  "My soul looks back and wonders how I got over!"
God has blessed us with the gifts of memories to use for encouragement and pleasure for us as well as those who come behind us.
For those reasons and others, "some memories should last!"

News Update:
Remember that our annual 4th of July picnic will be held this Saturday on the church grounds.  There will be activities for all ages.  Come out early and enjoy the festivities.  If you have company over for the holiday, bring them along.  Food will be served, however you need to get there early to make sure that we have not run out before you get some.  We will be sending plates to our sick and shut in members who are on our list.  If you know of someone who is not on the list, please let us know so that we will not miss anyone.

July 6th is the last day for submitting pictures for the Directory.  ALL GROUP AND INDIVIDUAL PICTURES MUST BE TAKEN BY THAT DATE.  I am sending additional emails to my FWMBC members in separate emails with further instructions.

This Sunday is FIRST SUNDAY.  See you in Church!
