FWMBC Members and Friends,
Some of our members will be attending the Inauguration Ceremony in Washington D.C. next week.  We are certainly excited about what God has done for our Country.  We should continue to pray for Presedent Elect Obama, and his family, as well as President Bush and his family.  We should pray for a smooth transition of power.  We will pray for a safe trip for all of those who will be traveling to and from the festivities. Of special note, Nascha Wanza will be a citizen journalist for USA TODAY Newspaper to report on Inauguration week.  Rev. Barnes, Crystal Kimbrough, Lea and Anita Barksdale, Pam Humphrey, Cynthia Bivins and others will also be attending (I don't have other names at this time but let me know the others and I will include next week).  Although I will not be going personally, I will be glued to the television as the oath of office is administered.  History is unfolding.  Take the time to say a prayer of thanksgiving for His mighty works!  To God Be The Glory!  And of course, keep our sick and shut in members in your prayers.

ARE YOU SPIRITUALLY AND   PHYSICALLY EXHAUSTED?

He giveth power to the faint, and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. (Isaiah 40:29)

Do you feel worn out sometimes?  I mean, are you really exhausted?  Sometimes you don't feel like even getting out of bed.  You would throw in the towel but you don't have the energy to pick it up and move your arm forward.  If you do feel this way sometimes, you are not alone.  Exhaustion means that your vital forces are worn out.  Usually your exhaustion comes from service. You have really been working for the Lord. And the solution to your problem depends on where you get your supplies.  Certainly you know that you should not stay exhausted.  There is too much work to do.  There are too many people who need your help.  We owe it to God to be our best for Him when serving in His Kingdom.  But how can we be our best when we are just plain tired.  Where do we get more energy when we have worked a 40 hour week and then must come home and cook, clean, and help the kids.

Well here is a word of advice.  Remember that God "faints not, and neither is weary." (Isaiah 40:28)  Therefore we must go to Him for our strength. He has more than enough power to share. The passage above says that He gives power to the faint.  When we are exhausted, call on Him for power.  When we need more strength to carry on, He is the source of all the strength that we need.  I am a witness that He will continue to empower you when you need it the most.  I found that those who "wait on Him shall renew their strength.  They shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31)  Of course a good night's sleep is good, and a vacation on the beaches of the Bahamas won't hurt.  But if you really want to be spiritually and physically revitalized, just take your petition to the Lord.

Just pray, "Lord, I am exhausted and I need more strength.  I know that you have a fresh supply of energy and I ask that you bless me with it as I do your will.  Thank you in advance.  In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen."

Then just trust that He will do what His word says.  After all, He has wonder working power that will never run out!

News Update:
On Monday night, January 19, 2009 there will be a Worship Service at True Light Missionary Baptist Church where Rev. John Bowie is the pastor.  This service will praise God in anticipation of the Inauguration of President Elect Obama on Tuesday.  Although True Light is hosting the service, our church is a member of the Metropolitan Baptist Minister's Conference and all of the participating churches will be in attendance.  The time is 7:00 p.m.  Call the church for directions.  There will be a meeting of all youth leaders, parents, and children on January 25, 2009 immediately after the 11:00 a.m. service.  This meeting is very important so please plan to attend.  Thanks in advance.   Sincerely, Pastor.
