TUESDAY NIGHT TASTING
November 16, 2010
6 to 8pm - $15 pp
We've got a great tasting on tap this week that will really help you get ready for Thanksgiving. If you haven't read it yet, be sure to read our Memories in a Bottle blog entry submitted by bartender, waiter, manager, singer, guitarist, and all around good guy Mike Cicciarella. Mike provides great advice on a variety of wines to consider for your Thanksgiving feast (click the tipsy turkey to read it). We'll be tasting many of the wines listed in Mike's story and Chef Maue is whipping up his take on a turducken special so you can experience the pairings LIVE Tuesday night and decide what you want to serve. Here's Matt's special:
Turducken Roulade
Sweet Potato Stuffing
Braised Greens
5 spice & Maple Jus
Remember, if you come for the tasting and then join us for dinner and purchase an entree costing at least $20, we will refund the cost of the tasting on your final check. |
LIVE MUSIC WEDNESDAY
Amy Schmidt
November 17th
7 to 10pm
We are very pleased to be introducing a new artist at Tastings. Amy Schmidt will be joining us this week and we hope you will come out to listen to this very promising singer, songwriter and guitarist. Amy has performed across the US, UK, Germany, Austria, and New Zealand in support of her latest LP, 'Restless Things.' Schmidt's song 'Where You Are' won the 2010 Tune My Life song search and has received live radio and tv play. Check out this beautifully produced HD video by clicking the picture above or view her MySpace page here:
Here are some recent press clippings on Amy:
"She is a woman with something to say and the musical chops to say it in a compelling way. Her new album, "Restless Things," is a prime example of what someone can do when they take a little conviction and a little heart and press it into a 4.7-inch plastic disc."
Daily Nebraskan
"Amy Schmidt from Lincoln, Nebraska opened the show with a set of original tunes and she used a quite, graceful charm to win over the Sunday night crowd. Schmidt never asserted herself vocally or on her acoustic guitar. Instead, she let her music take its time and it grew on people."
Bill Copeland Music News
"Every once in a while though, another artist comes along that actually has something to say. The kind of artists who sings songs because they mean them, not because they want a piece of the music-scene pie. Amy Schmidt is one of these artists."
Casey Welsh - Daily Nebraskan
"Her music is like the great terrain of the Nebraska countryside she hails from, beautiful, expansive, and pristine."

LEARN ABOUT RHONE VALLEY WINES
This week we continue our tour of Tastings' Award Winning Wine List with a stop in France's Rhone Valley region. The Rhone is a very diverse region and is widely recognized as having some of the highest quality-to-price ratios (or QPR) out there. At Tastings we focus on high QPR scores for our list, so it is not a surprise that the Rhone is well represented on our list. We highly recommend taking the time to learn about this historic region. The videos we selected for your tour through the Rhone are very informative, visually beautiful, and happen to feature many of the Rhone wines we offer. We hope you enjoy this tour and remember to stop by Tastings after your tour to take advantage of our sale on all of our Rhone Valley wines.
