Greetings! Welcome to Spring! We have all endured one of the most difficult wnters in recent memory made all the worse by the difficult economy. One of the great things about New England is that hope springs eternal and we want to help you enjoy this season of rebirth with an incredibly delicious spring menu coupled with some terrific events that we are planning. In addition to a menu that will feature incredibly fresh and unique offerings, we are rolling out recession-busting $3 pinxtos (pin-chos) that will be available daily from 5 to 7pm at our bar. A pinxto (Spanish; literally, thorn or spike) is a small slice of bread upon which an ingredient or mixture of ingredients is put and held there using a stick, which gives the food its name. A typical dish of the Basque Country and other Spanish territories, it is usually eaten as an appetizer, accompanied by a glass of red wine or beer. It is very common in the taverns of the Basque Country, Cantabria, and Navarre, where a variety of pinxtos are usually served on a tray at the bar. Executive Chef Rich Garcia is excited to bring our guests this deliciously authentic Spanish tradition. We will also offer some great value-priced Spanish wines to accompany the pinxtos.
We look forward to seeing you soon at Tastings and helping us celebrate the return of warm weather. | |

Tuesday Night Tastings
April 14, 2009 6 to 8pm
$10 pp including wine & cheese R. Merlo Estate Vineyards is located along the banks of the wild and scenic South Fork of the Trinity River and at the base of South Fork Mountain, the longest contiguous ridge in the continental United States. This wholly unique setting helps create wines that speak to the power and beauty that is Hyampom Valley. Influenced by the idyllic growing season and climate of this small pocket valley, the fruit produced in the R. Merlo Estate Vineyards expresses a strong sense of place. Based on the concept that quality wine is grown in the vineyard, a minimalist approach is taken in the cellar, allowing the wines to clearly reflect the varietal character and distinct terroir of Hyampom Valley. |
"BUD BREAK" AT TASTINGS
SPRING 2009 MENU RELEASE Bud break, also called budburst, is when grape vines, no longer dormant, begin to show signs of life. The first indication is bleeding-when water begins to appear at the cuts from pruning. Soon after, the buds will start to make their appearance, with new leaves unfolding more and more. A lovely way to mark the coming of spring....
At Tastings, we are marking our own "bud break" with the introduction of our Spring 2009 menu. With this menu, we are shaking things up a bit. We are retaining many of our guests' favorite dishes, while introducing a new micro-seasonal menu. This portion of the menu will change on a bi-weekly basis throughout the spring and summer enabling you to enjoy the finest culinary treasures New England has to offer and that are unique to each individual season and micro-season. Click the bud or the link below to view the new menu:
