Dear ,
The season for giving is upon us, and we hope, as you make your way through lights, parties and lists, that you are able to find a moment to reflect upon your own giving. In addition to considering a contribution to the Maine Women's Fund, here's our ask:
Give Boldly. Sometimes, we give out of habit. This year, consider giving to one new organization. When we give, we learn. Like the 30 girls who participated in the 2011 Girls' Grantmaking Initiative, you have the opportunity to build your knowledge about the needs of women and girls in Maine. The girls were partnered with eight members of the Maine Women's Fund community to review grant proposals, practice advocacy and consensus-building, and create their own definitions of philanthropy. Ultimately, they learned about and chose among fifteen different causes and gave away $5,000.
Give Joyfully. Feel the joy of investing in the power of women and dreams of girls, and give from a place of inspiration, rather than obligation. Every year, we are inspired by each of our grantees. Your gift to the Maine Women's Fund makes it possible to support great programs like the Aroostook and Bangor Network of Entrepreneurial Women, part of Women, Work and Community. They are strengthening 50 women- owned businesses in rural Aroostook County, metropolitan Bangor and surrounding small towns in Penobscot County by addressing the needs for business training for creative entrepreneurs.
Give Generously. Giving is a leadership act and you have so much to give - your time, talent and resources. Don't hold back. Your contributions make a difference. At the Maine Women's Fund, we seek to foster a culture of philanthropic leadership - your leadership - because we know that when you lead, your community thrives.
May you enjoy a bold, joyful, and generous holiday season,
Cathy
