Greetings!
Technology, cause marketing, celebrity voices and social media are all changing the activist's tool kit. In contrast to the world of phone banks, picket lines, rallies and legislative meetings, these tools put action at our finger tips (or within wallets reach) simply and comfortably. When combined, however, every individual has the capacity to support multiple efforts that together will create social justice.

What do your own efforts look like? Where do you use your consumer power or your mobile phone, and where do you invest real elbow grease? I invite you to share your efforts on E-Quality Matters and be inspired by the activist Lauren Sullivan. But first and foremost, in the season of giving thanks, I invite you to give yourself a big hug of appreciation for every action, micro and macro, you take to build a better world.

Lauren SullivanLauren Sullivan: Making Green Connections
Written by Michaela Cavallaro

Some moments of inspiration come while gazing out at mountain vistas or floating slowly down a verdant stream. For Lauren Sullivan, inspiration arrived in a more mundane moment: while she was washing dishes at her kitchen sink. An activist who'd spent her career working for environmental organizations, Sullivan felt she hadn't ever found exactly the right fit. "I'd worked on very David versus Goliath campaigns, and very local campaigns, and I wanted to be someplace in between," she says.

Women's Leadership Series: The Difference Found in Women's Leadership
Join us to discuss the "difference" found in women's leadership. There is much research that invites businesses to acknowledge and optimize gender differences as a means to improve business performance. Yet there continues to be the practice of "neutralizing gender," reinforcing the belief that leadership has nothing to do with gender. Join us, bring your friends and colleagues. These events are free and open to the public. RSVP at thewomen@mainewomensfund.org or 207-774-5513.
