I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July holiday. Mine was bittersweet. My 94 year old grandmother passed away at 12:15 am on July 5th. She had lived an incredible life and was always full of stories and tales from "the old days." However, the last nine years of her life were spent in a nursing home suffering from the horrible effects of Alzheimer's Disease.
Although those nine years are part of her 94 years on this earth, we don't really consider them as part of her Legacy, because she wasn't mentally with us.
What we do consider her legacy is the fun times we had at her house on weekends, holidays and vacations during the summer. A Sunday lunch table full of meat loaf, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and banana pudding.(my personal favorite and she always had a little bowl just for me) Working hard in the garden and tobacco fields and making everyone who stopped by feel like a special guest in her home.
As I was thinking about my grandmother's legacy, I began to think about my legacy and the legacy of my business. My deepest desire is that my legacy will be one of always serving others. Being helpful and providing information that can help someone else succeed.
With the emergence of social media you have a great opportunity to begin your online legacy. What will your's be?
My grandmother's is legacy is our precious memories, 4 children, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 23 great great grandchildren.
