Creating Good Jobs Inside Great Workplaces Entrepreneurs who create jobs and foster great workplaces will receive substantial rewards
Greetings!
As a business leader, creating jobs is a tremendous act of patriotism. Job creation is a big part of a growing economy. As wonderful as job growth is, however, I submit to you there is an even higher calling for business leaders; creating good jobs inside great workplaces.Research has shown that the business leader who creates and sustains a great workplace will benefit in a number of areas, including greater returns to shareholders, higher revenues, and increased profitability and productivity. It makes sense to allocate time and resources on the people aspects of your business. Getting the people quotient right will provide direct returns to all stakeholders. Besides, it's the right thing to do. The good news is that any company can create a great workplace by initiating positive people practices. It doesn't matter where you are in the process, the road to greatness begins when business leaders are willing to face the hard realities of their current situation and address employee issues with humility and sincerity. Employees will soon begin to recognize the change occurring as the new leadership inspired atmosphere of openness and transparency begins to flow down into the organization. As long as company leaders are willing to create people-friendly work environments, decisively end employment relationships with internal workplace bullies, jerks and psychological terrorists, the company will soon heal and begin to focus exclusively on the company's mission. It is beautiful when the majority of a company's employees are headed in the same direction, working as a team and making a difference in their industry. Building Great Workplaces and creating good jobs is a recipe for long-term financial success. The People Group is on a mission to make work/life productive, rewarding and fun for our clients. Please join us in spreading the positive news about The People Group. To Your Success!

The Power of Nice Not-so-nice people want you to think nice people finish last when in reality it pays to be nice
by Kevin Kennemer, SPHR
This past weekend a rough looking middle-aged woman deliberately threw a rather large plastic cup full of
soda out of her car window onto a retail store parking lot as we walked
by. Realizing the unkempt woman littered on purpose, my wife said to
the women, "you dropped your cup." In a very hateful tone the
litterbug shot back, "come over here and pick it up!" A trash can was
simply four or five steps away from the rude woman's car door but she
refused to do the right thing, trashed our environment with her
uncleanliness and her unsightly rudeness.
What has happened to basic courtesy? When did it become okay to
simply throw your trash out the car window while driving down the
highway. When did it become okay to yell, scream and curse at other
drivers on the road? This same lack of courtesy has crept into the
workplace as well.
Why do some managers find it acceptable to yell or curse at
employees? Why do some organizations allow fear and intimidation to be
used as a management tool? Even non-profit groups, churches and
Christian organizations have not been immune to the disease of mean.
One time I observed a blustery executive respond to a subordinate
who simply asked a good question, "I am not telling you again because I
didn't stutter the first time," the impatient executive stated to the
employee who was visibly shaken by the rude response. How creative and
innovative do you think that supervisor's employees were? Read the rest of this article

amazing and fun! Kevin Kennemer is so easy to talk to and his empathy and
enthusiasm are clear. I really appreciated the way Kevin remained flexible as
different paths seemed to appear. His ease in accommodating new directions is
making such transitions seem less daunting, as if they weren't fazing him; they
were less likely to faze me."
