Friends of Fred Old School Wine Club Shipment
Fall 2010
Shipment #3 |
|
| Dear Friend of Fred,
After a very cool growing season, we've gotten some great sunny days here in Dry Creek Valley, and kick started the harvest with a bang. We're working hard to get the grapes in at their optimal ripeness, with great flavors already showing. We're still making time to get you your exciting Fall Wine Club Shipment, and we hope you'll enjoy it!
The next shipment of wines will be shipping out on October 11th, and we ask that you please notify us of any information changes by Tuesday, October 5th, so we can get your wines to you in a timely fashion.
For those of you in the area (or looking for an excuse to come visit), we will be hosting a Wine Club Pickup Party on Saturday, October 9th, from 4:30pm-6:30pm. Here you can try and pickup the wines from your club shipment, as well as other current and past releases. See some of the harvest action while you are here, since we'll have many fermenters going full bore.
We are offering to "Double Your Shipment" for the same shipping cost as the regular three bottles, at the bottom of the email. Read more about the wines below, and we'll look forward to hearing from you, or seeing you soon. For pickup club members, purchases of 3 or more additional bottles at time of club shipment pickup will earn you a free Peterson hat or set of wine glasses (2).

2007 "Vignobles" Blend, Dry Creek Valley Tasting Notes:
Bringing back an old favorite! Up until 2000, we bottled a blend we named "Vignobles," which is the French word for grapevines or vineyard. In 2007, we had a good supply of a few varietals that would go very well together. This big wine is a big blend, featuring Rhone varietals mixed with some Zinfandel. All the grapes in this wine came from very select vineyards around the Dry Creek Valley, with 50% of the wine being Bradford Mountain Vineyard fruit.
Regular retail- $32/bottle
Wine Club Price: $25.60/bottle ($24 by the case)
2008 Zinfandel, "Old School", Dry Creek Valley Tasting Notes:
Our easy drinking (and easy on the wallet) Dry Creek Valley Zin that you can enjoy without having to think about it too much. It's made using the same Zero Manipulation techniques as the rest of our wines, it's just blended in a more approachable fashion. The 2007 sold out very quickly, so we made a little bit more for 2008, but already pre-sold nearly 50 cases as futures.
Regular retail- $18/bottle
Wine Club Price: $14.40/bottle ($13.50 by the case)
2007 Cabernet Sauvignon "1-2-3 Cab", Dry Creek Valley
Tasting Notes: Sometimes an opportunity for great quality fruit at a reasonable price comes along, and it's too good to pass up. In 2007, we were offered this juice at a price we couldn't refuse, and we are passing it on to you at a price that is hard to refuse. Seductive ripe blackberry and dark currant aromas mix with spicy cedar and rich oak. Juicy blackberry, cherry, cola, cedar and vanillin oak flavors layer over a slightly chewy texture. Spicy berry fills the palate and lingers into the finish. Nicely balanced fruit, oak and tannins, and a firm structure adds up to an irresistible and classic Cabernet. Bottoms up!
Regular retail: $23/bottle
Wine Club Price: $18.40/bottle ($17.25 by the case) |
