Friends of Fred Old School Wine Club Shipment

2010 Shipment #1

February
Dear Friend of Fred,

The winter has been rainy but mild here in the Dry Creek Valley (which is a good thing, even if a bit gloomy at times). We can't complain at all, compared to what some have been dealing with back East.

The next shipment of wines will be shipping out on February 23rd, and we ask that you please notify us of any information changes by next Thursday the 18th, so we can get your wines to you in a timely fashion without any hold ups. We will be keeping an eye on the weather, and will hold shipments if locations are too cold.

For those of you in the area (or looking for an excuse to come visit), we will be hosting a Pickup Party on Saturday, February 27th from 2-5pm, where we will be pouring the club wines as well as other favorite bottlings, and serving up some tasty bites.

We are offering to "Double Your Shipment" for the same shipping cost as the regular three bottles, at the bottom of the email. Read more about the wines below, and we'll look forward to hearing from you, or seeing you soon.

Petite Sirah label                       2007 Petite Sirah, Dry Creek Valley

Tasting Notes:
Our first bottling of Petite Sirah since the 2004 vintage. Our 2007 Petite Sirah from the West Vineyard is a dark, teeth-staining, chewy Petite with an added twist. For the twist, we blended in 13% Zinfandel from the Borkow and Bradford Mountain Vineyards, 6% Carignane from Forchini Vineyard and 6% Syrah from the Olson Vineyard. This addition of Zinfandel, Carignane and Syrah also help to smooth out some of the tannic edges, creating a seductive velvety mouthfeel in this classic, robust Petite Sirah. Buy three bottles and receive a pack of teeth-whitening chewing gum.
Wine Club Price: $24/bottle ($22.50 by the case)

It contains a high percentages of blending varietals to give the wine maximum spice and an intriguing multifaceted quality.10% Petite Sirah and8% Carignane give the wine additional complexity and depth of flavors.
