Friends of Fred Old School Wine Club Shipment

October 2009
Greetings!
Harvest has hit us hard and heavy this year (everything looks really, really good), but we're still making time to get you some of the very exciting new release wines.

The wines will be shipping out on October 12th, and we ask that you please notify us of any information changes by this Thursday the 8th, so we can get your wines to you in a timely fashion.

For those of you in the area (or looking for an excuse to come visit), we will be hosting a Pickup Party on Saturday, October 24th from 5-7pm, where we will be pouring the club wines as well as other favorite bottlings, and serving up some tasty bites.

We are offering to "Double Your Shipment" for the same shipping cost as the regular three bottles, at the bottom of the email. Read more about the wines below, and we'll look forward to hearing from you, or seeing you soon.

2006 Bernier Zinyard Zinfandel- Club price- $21.60
Bernier ZinEach year the Bernier Zinyard produces grapes whose flavors reflect the growing season, as if the vines are trying out different personalities. The 2006 Bernier Zin is reminiscent of a Southern Rhone Grenache/Syrah blend crossed with a Dry Creek Valley Zin.  Lovely berry aromas poised against a background of earth tones. The creamy entry and delicious flavors of juicy berry, plum and black pepper integrate seamlessly into a structure of dusty tannins and vanillin oak.

2006 Gravity Flow Block Syrah - Club price - $36.00
syrahDense ripe blackberry and mineral-driven aromas mingle with a touch of rich leather. The full, opulent mouthfeel offers up a chewy middle with supple tannins on the edges. As the wine opens, the lush, multi-layered flavors appear and linger into the finish -juicy blackberry, espresso, black pepper, dark chocolate, subtle leather, cola, spicy oak and a core of minerality from the mountain terroir. Complex with plenty of finesse, this Syrah is an excellent cellar candidate, or can be thoroughly enjoyed now when decanted before serving.
