Teradata Launches Virtual Storage Software

Teradata on Monday launched Teradata Virtual Storage, software that virtualizes storage and seeks out hot data, information used most frequently, to put it on the fastest hardware. Cold data, which is used less frequently, is put on the back burner. Teradata, which is in a data warehousing dogfight with the likes of Oracle and HP, said that its Virtual Storage technology can cut the cost of additional storage by as much as 10 times.
