Hello ,
 
In an effort to lose some body fat, many people end up cutting calories and simultaneously drastically increasing their exercise activities.  Within a week or two they find they are sick and have to curtail their activities while they recover.  Going from being fairly sedentary to immediately exercising for an hour or so per day puts a great deal of strain on our bodies.  This happens every January as people make their resolutions.  

While it is understandable to get into a better eating routine and engage in regular exercise, too much all at once may be detrimental.  To make matters worse, cutting calories and eating "clean", (which means different things to different people) can result in not getting enough nutrients. Equate this to running your car at high speeds and going on a long trip without filling the tank and changing your oil. 
 
One of the things you can do to help recover some of the tissue that gets broken down during exercise, especially when you first increase your activity, is Max PRO BCAA.  Glutamine makes up over 60% of your muscle mass while Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine make up another 30+%.  Those 4 aminos are very important to healing, recovery and mnimizing that nagging muscle soreness. Debunking Myths for WOMEN

 

Myth 1

Strength training causes women to become

larger and heavier.

 

Myth 2

Women should use different training

methods than men.

Women should avoid high-intensity

or high-load training

 

What's the bottom line?

Strength training helps reduce body fat and increases lean mass. You will not get big and bulky from lifting heavier weights.  No evidence suggests that women are more prone to be injured during strength training.  Using limited resistance and light loads, below those necessary for physiologic adaptations, will result in minimal benefits. Women need to train at intensities high enough to cause adaptation in bone, muscle, cartilage, ligaments and tendons, just like men.

 

If you'd like more information regarding these concepts why not discuss it with a trainer at your local gym?  Trainers will help get you on the right track and can help you avoid injury. Learning proper technique is something you will use for the rest of your life.  You are worth it.

Leptin - What is it and why it can be harmful to your health and what you can do about it?

Leptin is a protein hormone that is thought to relay satiety signals. ie: Let us know we are full or hungry. Leptin concentrations are highly correlated to body fat mass.
 
Obese humans have, on average, 4 times more serum leptin levels than lean individuals.

Men who are obese, (with high serum concentrations of leptin) have been shown to have low concentrations of total and free testosterone. (ie: 22%-45%)

This can have many other health implications beyond vanity.  Excess body fat around the middle has been associated with many health problems. If you find yourself with the "tire around the middle" syndrome, you may benefit by adding a natural testosterone booster to your exercise and nutritional strategy.
