Canadians Abroad, Canada's Global Asset
Having lived in the US now for 12 years, it's been rare that I've had the opportunity to spend Canada Day in my homeland. Over a 4 week span, I've been fortunate to travel to New Brunswick, Montreal, Toronto and finally, Vancouver. The trip encompassed both business related events as well as rekindling with family and friends. It was also a reminder of how great and unique Canada is. I had time to contemplate the assets that Canada has both home and abroad, namely, human assets.
After covering the Southeast US- Canadian Province Alliance Conference in Fredericton, NB, then it was off to Montreal to see the Alouettes play an exhibition game at the cozy confines of Percival Molson Memorial Stadium at McGill University. Next, was a week in Toronto, scheduling a meeting for a project I'll be announcing in the coming months and spending time with family.
The cross country trip ended in Vancouver, with a number of meetings and a series of interviews with CBC Radio on a report that was released by the Asia-Pacific Foundation regarding Canadians Abroad, Canada's Global Asset. On June 27th, excerpts of the 66 page report were featured in the Globe & Mail. During that day, I spoke with 12 CBC Radio affiliates from Newfoundland to Victoria, BC over a period of 3 hours.
