PROGRAM OF SUPPORTIVE HOUSING FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
� Application
deadline date is July 16, 2008.

Approximately
$99.3 million in capital advance funds plus associated project rental
assistance contract (PRAC) funds and any carryover funds available.
� This program provides
funding for the development and operation of supportive housing for very
low-income persons with disabilities who are at least 18 years old. If you
receive funding through this program, you must assure that supportive services
are identified and available.
HEALTHY HOMES
DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM
�
The application
deadline date is July 17, 2008
�
HUD anticipates
that approximately $4,375,000 in fiscal year 2008 and prior year funds will be
available.
�
Approximately
four to five cooperative agreements will be awarded for a maximum of $875,000
each for the entire period of performance.
PUBLIC AND
INDIAN HOUSING FAMILY SELF-SUFFICIENCY PROGRAM COORDINATORS UNDER RESIDENT
OPPORTUNITIES & SELF-SUFFICIENCY (ROSS) PROGRAM
� The application
deadline date is July 18, 2008
�
HUD
expects to award a total of approximately $12 million in FY 2008.
�
Awards will pay
only for the annual salary and fringe benefits of PH FSS Coordinators. Award
amounts will be based on locality pay rates for similar professions. Each new
or renewal position amount will not exceed $68,000.
RESIDENT
OPPORTUNITY AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY (ROSS) SERVICE COORDINATORS PROGRAM
�
The application
deadline date is August 14, 2008
�
A total of
approximately $28 million is available for the ROSS Service Coordinator program
in fiscal year 2008, plus any carryover or recaptured funds from prior ROSS
appropriations that may become available.
�
Awards will pay
for the annual salary and fringe benefits of Service Coordinators. Awards may
be for up to three coordinators, depending on size and type of applicant and
each coordinator salary must not exceed $68,000.
LEAD OUTREACH
GRANT PROGRAM
� The application
deadline date is July 17, 2008.

Approximately
$1.5 million is available under this program from current and previous years
funding.
�
Approximately 5
to 8 grants, minimum of $100,000 and maximum of $300,000, will be awarded. |

Peter V. Berns Steps Down as Executive Director of Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations
The Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations ("Maryland Nonprofits") announced that longtime Executive Director, Peter V. Berns, will be leaving to assume the position of Executive Director of The Arc of the United States. "As the first executive director of Maryland Nonprofits, Peter has built the largest and most effective state association of nonprofits in the United States over the past 16 years, providing critical services, day in and day out, to nonprofits across Maryland," says Maryland Nonprofits Board President Theresa Cameron, "He will be greatly missed."

MONCK STEPS UP
Sandy Monck, currently the Coordinator of Homeless
Services for Baltimore County, will be in a new position. Beginning June 9, she will become Sr. Vice
President of Community Impact for United Way of Central Maryland. She has been a lont time UWCM volunteer, serving as a member of the Baltimore County Partnership Board, Basic Needs Impact
Council and the Vision Council.

Organization Overview: Paul's Place exists to
improve the quality of life in our Southwest Baltimore community
Washington Village/Pigtown. Located in one of the poorest urban
neighborhoods in the country (2000 Census), Paul's Place offers 20
services and programs to meet the needs of our low-income and homeless
community members and to help them increase their self-sufficiency.
Paul's Place has an annual budget of $1.3 million. Position Overview: The Director of Development is
responsible for securing sufficient operating and programmatic funds to
meet the goals and objectives of the organization through a diversified
funding base. The Director of Development sets short-term and long-term
fundraising strategies and revenue goals, provides support for the
Board and Development Committee, supervises the development team, and
ensures the fundraising efforts of Paul's Place are meeting the highest
standards of ethics and accountability. The Director of Development
reports to the Executive Director. Key Responsibilities: - Manage the day-to-day operations of the development department; lead short-term and long-term planning initiatives
- Individual
Giving: Develop and evaluate strategies for major and planned giving
donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship with the Executive
Director, Development Committee, and Board; write and produce direct
mail solicitations
- Organizational Giving: Supervise Grants
Manager; oversee foundation and corporate proposal and report
submission; research new funding opportunities, including government
grants
Fundraising Events: - Plan and implement 2 fundraising events annually
- Marketing/Public Relations: Write, edit, and produce three newsletters and the annual report; maintain website
- Gift Processing: Supervise Development Associate; oversee gift processing procedures and Raiser's Edge database maintenance
Qualifications: - Minimum 3- 5 years experience as Director of Development or in an equivalent position
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree may substitute for some experience
- Broad knowledge of development, marketing and public relations; major gift fundraising experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Raiser's Edge or other fundraising database
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Exceptional
written and oral communication skills; ability to articulate Paul's
Place's mission and giving opportunities to a diverse group of
constituents
- Ability to set priorities, perform under pressure, and work well independently and as part of a team
- Excellent critical thinking, strategic planning, and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated
initiative; ability to work well independently and as part of a team
