From the Principal's Desk
Our annual Beautification Day is jus tdays away! This Saturday from 8am to 12noon we will be coming together as a community of students, parents and faculty to take care of a long TO DO list of chores. This is a great day to help us with that extra KICK we need to get ready for the year, catch up with old friends and welcome the newest members of our community. The Knights of Colombus will be here providing breakfast for all of our hungry workers. We will be moving desks, chairs, cleaning windows and blinds, completing yard work, clearing out storerooms, misc. tasks in the rooms for teachers and on and on. There will be jobs for hands large and small.
If you have the following items, PLEASE bring them along:
- Work gloves, rakes and outside brooms
- Dusting rags, sprays and supplies
- Cleaning rags, paper towels
- Disinfecting wipes, cleaners and lysol
- Window cleaner and paper towels.
I'll see you all on Saturday morning, full of spirit and energy!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns - please let me know. My door and inbox are always open!
In Spirit & Peace,
Mrs. Donna Woodard Principal

Uniform Questions
A few calls have come in regarding two uniform areas.
1. Shoes need to be ALL white or ALL back. Logos should not be of a different color. These shoes may be harder to find, but can be found at many shoe stores around Austin. (I had luck at the Round Rock Outlet at various stores.)
2. PE Uniforms (3rd - 8th grade) are our gray spirit wear T-shirts and black shorts. One has been ordered for each child. They will be here the first day of school. Extras will be available through our Booster Club as soon as they arrive. Black shorts should be solid, but may have stripes on the side.
Volunteers Needed
Mom, Dad, Grandparents.... are you interested in helping out at school? Once a week? Once a month? We need volunteers to help us out on a regular basis in a couple of areas. All volunteers will need to complete the EIM training course. For these positions siblings are welcome to come, too. Please email Mrs. Woodard if you are interested in...
Lunch Order Coordinator - Comes into the school when orders are due and tallies them up and creates class reports of orders.
Lunch Room Monitors - We need volunteers to help faculty supervise students in the dining hall - opening lunch items, getting through line, heating items in the microwave, escorting to the bathroom, etc. There are three lunch times to choose from. Once a week, once a month - any time will help.
Recess Monitors - Volunteers are needed to help faculty supervise our three lunch recesses. Monitors watch for student safety on the big toy and the blacktop.
Green Team - We need assistance in mowing the South and West sides of the building, cleaning out flowerbeds and sweeping sidewalks. Volunteers are needed at least one day per month. The school does have a mower on campus.
Office / Clerical - Help filing, organizing, preparing mailings, making copies, organizing binders and other various tasks.

What's cooking in the Kitchen? In preparation for the new school & ministry year the Newman Hall kitchen is getting a much needed makeover. The parish recently replaced our commercial refrigerator, which had reached the end of its lifespan, and bringing in professionals for a deep cleaning and to refinish the floor. We are also exploring the cost of repairing or replacing the gas stove.
Now we desperately need to replace the stainless steel worktables which are the heart of the kitchen. We would like to purchase three or four new 30" x 60" tables with adjustable feet from Mission Restaurant Supply for $258.95 each. If you'd like to support our parish ministries and St. Austin School by providing financial assistance for the purchase of new worktables, please contact Jennifer Anderson at 512-477-9471 ext. 303 or janderson@staustin.org. |

Summer Reading will be due the first day of school! Time is running out to complete your Summer Reading! We know how difficult it is to sometimes battle all the other students in town for summer reading books at the local library. Therefore, Mrs. Murphy worked extra hard to gather many books on the summer reading lists and place them in the school library for check out! YEA, Mrs. Murphy! We are thankful for her efforts as we know this will ease the rush of many families. Books may be checked out with Ms. Turner and have a due date of 1 week from check out. |

Family Referral Program Earn $100 off your tuition! Do you know a prospective student who would thrive at St. Austin Catholic School? We would love the opportunity to share the spirit of our community with them first hand!
Don't forget...by referring a potential student to St. Austin Catholic School, you will be opening a door of opportunity for that child to receive the wonderful gift you have already chosen for your child - a Catholic education. Also you will be helping our community continue to grow! We already have had a family take advantage of this!
Remember to wear your St. Austin gear and talk us up to your friends, family and neighbors! When new families register, they will be asked to fill out a form letting us know how they heard about St. Austin. When they mention your name, your family will receive $100 off your spring tuition for each child the new family enrolls in our school!
We have limited openings in most grades, a couple of waiting lists, but lots of space in our 4th and 6th grade classes for next year! Thanks for your continued support in spreading the good news of Catholic education. We look forward to showing new families the spirit of St. Austin Catholic School and welcoming them into our community.
