In 2009 we actually came in first place in the region against the bigger cégeps. What did we win you ask? A truck load of bananas and we loved it! They were all donated to Maison l'Aube Rivière.

During the week of March 26th, bananas and apples will be available around school to motivate and help students and staff participate in the "défi".  Come to room 272 or the reception and show us your fruit and/or vegie and we will give you a coupon.  At the end of the week, Friday, with all the participation coupons a draw will take place with great prizes.

How to participate:

Register on the following website:

 http://www.peluredebanane.com/le-defi.html.

Then just eat your fruits and veggies.

If you have any questions, just drop by my desk in 272.  Joanne

SLC Reaches Out

SLC REACHES OUT

Thursday, April 19th is a day dedicated to giving back to the community. Last year, hundreds of students and employees of Champlain St. Lawrence dedicated one day to make a difference by taking on volunteer projects that meet the needs of the Greater Quebec Area community. We want to do even better this year!

Students and staff are asked to look around them and see where they can help and donate some of their time.  Come to room 272 to register your interest or your activity, individually or as a group and REACH OUT.

This year, to add a little bit more fun, we will present a trophy to the group or program that will have been the most active on this day.

We look forward to this event so come and join us to lend a helping hand to our community. Engage your teachers in the process!

Mercedes Benz start

Volunteers needed!

Mercedes-Benz Start Up is a program that provides a national platform to discover and support emerging Canadian fashion designers who have been in business for less than five years.  This year, the Mercedes-Benz Start Up program will be holding one of its Semi-Final events in Quebec City on June 4th and 5th.

The program invites selected designer applicants to showcase their collections in front of a panel of industry experts. These panelists then choose up to five (5) designers to show their capsule collection for the Semi-Final Runway Show on Tuesday, June 5th, 2012, from which they will choose one designer to move forward in the program. This designer will then present their full collection as part of the Mercedes-Benz Start Up National Final at World MasterCard Fashion Week in October 2012 in Toronto.

We are seeking approximately 30 students to volunteer at the Mercedes-Benz Start Up Semi-Finals. Volunteer positions include but are not exclusive to:

-Assisting with set up

-Backstage dressing

-Assisting designers

-Seating and Greeting Guests

-Registration

We feel this would be an excellent way to expose students to the world of fashion events, and make valuable contacts in the Canadian fashion industry.

Please have interested students forward their information to janna.paterson@imgworld.com, and I will send additional volunteer information to those willing to participate. If you would like any additional information on the program, do not hesitate to contact me or visit www.mercedes-benzstartup.com.
