ECO-St. Lo
Logo Eco St Lo

Here is your green tip of the week from ECO-St. Lo, your award-winning local environment group.

Plastics are everywhere. They're used to make everything from building materials to food containers to toys.

Most plastics are made from non-renewable petroleum products and are treated with a variety of toxic additives.

One of the plastic products all of us can easily avoid using is #6 polystyrene (PS). This is the stuff used in those styrofoam disposable cups and other take-out containers. Its production involves the use of known and suspected human carcinogenic substances. And styrofoam is practically impossible to recycle!

So let's avoid polystyrene in any way we can. Why not start by bringing our own mugs to school?

At St. Lawrence, it's easy being green!
