Here is your green tip of the week from ECO-St. Lo, your award-winning local environment group.

Your green tip of the week from ECO-St. Lo, your local environment group!

People are always wondering what we can do as individuals to lessen our environmental impact.! Here are some tips:

*Consume a lot less-of everything!

*Buy local foods.

*Eat a lot less meat, or become a vegetarian.

*Drive a lot less, or get rid of your car.

*Fly a lot less, or quit flying (it's no fun anymore anyway!)

*Don't buy bottled water-ever!

* Learn how to compost and you will reduce the amount of garbage you add to the local landfill by at least 40%.

   * Learn the joys of voluntary simplicity! Spread the word to others!

*Join an environment action group and/or a political party with a strong environmental record.(Why not join ECO St.-Lo this year?) Write letters, march, and demonstrate. Fight for social change, especially for a no-growth society.

At St. Lawrence, it's easy being green!

TutoringWe offer extensive Writing Workshop services to help St. Lawrence students improve their written English.  The Workshop will be open for business as of Monday January 23.  Students who are in the know book spaces in the Workshop (room 263 in the library) as early as possible.  We put out the new schedule every Wednesday morning, and students can make appointments two weeks in advance.  It is not uncommon for students to feel frustrated because they can't get a Workshop appointment.  They may also avail themselves of our English peer-tutor service.  If they want a private tutor free of charge, they should see Bob McBryde (office 356) or contact Bob by MIO or email. (In two weeks Louise Gauthier will take over these duties.) Otherwise they can come to our peer tutor drop-in centre in room 340 (located at the south exit) every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:10 to 1:55, starting in a few weeks.
