Friday, August 19

 

 

 

All new students are invited to a barbecue from 11:45 to 1:30 p.m. Program meetings and other activities will be held before or after the barbecue. Please see program schedules below.

What will be happening in the gym?

Pick up your agenda, take a picture for your I.D. card, get your computer access code, locker number (bring your lock!), official schedule and booklist.

Representatives of student organizations will be there to promote their activities. If you have questions about team tryouts or student life, staff from student activities will also be in the gym to help you out.  A used book sale will be held on this day only and the regular bookstore will be open for business in the library. Please note that for the used book sale, you must bring cash. The bookstore accepts only cash, debit card or checks. You cannot pay with a credit card.

 

Information for Returning Students  Friday August 19th

New students must have their picture taken.  This will take place in the gym on Welcome Day.  There are no retakes. If you miss the photo session on Welcome Day you will have to go to their kiosques on your own.

 

Returning students already have their cards from last year. Should you need to have your card replaced, you will be charged a fee of 10.00$.

 

Remember that even if you do not use the city bus, this card is your SLC Student ID card.  You will need it for access to activities organized by the student council, to obtain books and audiovisual equipment in the library and to identify yourself when necessary in the school.
BRING A LOCK ON WELCOME DAY.
Lockers 
Claim your locker!   Friday August 19th, Welcome Day, you will receive your locker assignment.  

It is highly recommended that you bring a lock with you

and put it on your locker immediately.  This is the best way to avoid locker problems on the first day of classes.  If you have a problem with the locker you have been attributed, do not grab another.  Locks will be cut if found on the wrong lockers.  Please come to room 272 for help and more info. If you do not have a lock they are on sale at the bookstore.

WILL YOU BE 19 YEARS OLD BY SEPTEMBER 30TH?
RTC OPUS

If so, your RTC (OPUS) card must be renewed.

If you are 19 years old or will be by September 30th, you must return your OPUS card and a new card will then be emitted to you no charge.  Bring your old cards to my desk in room 272 before September 20th at 8.30 am. The RTC will bring back new cards at the end of the day.

USED BOOK SALE
FRIDAY AUGUST 19TH 
BEFORE YOU GO TO THE BOOKSTORE, DROP BY THE GYM

Book Sale On Friday August 19th (the same day as welcome day) a used book sale will be organized in the gym. 
Your book list (the real one with the bar-codes) will be given to you on this day.  Just drop by the gym and you will find great bargains.

 

You may also purchase your books on the SLC Portal. Go to your SLC Portal, in the left hand menu under: My Omnivox Services you will see a Second Hand Books tab.  Just follow the instructions.

 

Want to sell your old school books? There are now two ways to do this.

First by internet. Go to your SLC Portal, in the left hand menu under: My Omnivox Services you will see a Second Hand Books tab.  Just follow the instructions. 

 

 

On Welcome Day you are invited to come directly to the gym and sell them immediately.  The fast way to sell your books.  No fees.  You just come to the gym with your books. Don't forget to identify all your books with your name, phone number and price of sale. Bring some change with you.

 

 If for some reason you can not be here to sell them yourself, you may leave them with us the week of August 16th and someone will sell them for you for a small fee (10%)  Drop by Student Activities,room 272, for more info or to reserve your spot.

The bookstore is situated in the Library for the first week, then will return to its usual place beside the reception.

Student Activities, Room 272, 15.00$ for try-outs and this includes a lions tshirt. 
Tuesday  August 23rd , 12:15 for AAA Women's Basketball in the gym.
Tuesday August 23rd , 12:15 for Men and Women Rugby at the Cegep Ste-Foy field.

 

Only students who have registered will be permitted to try-out.
PARKING AT SLC
Parking sign There are 5 -10 spaces available to students. There will be a lottery the first week of the semester for these spaces. Please come to the Reception for more details.They are on a first come first serve basis.

*Since our parking is limited, please note that priority is given to all staff members.
