Green tip of the week from your ECO-ST. Lo, your local environment group.

Think green before buying or using anything this Christmas. That's the eco-friendly way to go!

There has been much discussion about the environmental impact of Christmas; the cutting of trees, the production of Christmas cards and the disposal of wrapping paper all take their toll on the planet. But what is the environmental impact of Christmas gifts themselves? Do you know how far that Elmo doll travelled before it ended up in your local toy store? How much energy did it take to produce those Transformers action figures you plan to give your nephew? Are you sure that the 10-speed juicer for your sister-in-law won't end up in the garbage (read: landfill) next year?

Of course, Christmas is all about giving and the good news is that it is possible to tread through the holiday season without leaving a heavy carbon footprint.

Check out the following sites to learn how.
