Letter from the Executive Director
onebrickhelpArt is just too much fun. Maybe that's why some people don't recognize that a good art lesson teaches children to think. Educators are talking about whole brain thinking. Our children will need to be creative, critical thinkers as adults. This video by leading educator, Bernie Trilling, describes ideal learning. He is describing what happens in an Art in Action lesson. When you share an hour teaching an Art in Action lesson, you are also teaching the kids to analyze, solve problems, and innovate. What a gift you give!

onebrickhelpThanks to the enthusiasm and dedication of teacher Mary Schinnerer, students at Spangler Elementary in Milpitas, CA will soon be creating masterpieces. Spangler parents and teachers are attending training to learn how to guide their budding artists.
Volunteers Make a Difference
Thank you, One Brick! 48 One Brickers volunteered 96 hours over the course of 3 evenings.  They packed lessons for paper plus boxes and filled them.  With their help, we were able to fill the orders for our schools.
Art Advocacy
Today's kindergarteners will be retiring in the year 2067.  We have no idea of what the world will look in five years, much less 60 years, yet we are charged with preparing our students for life in that world.

Why Arts Education Must be Saved - Edutopia
Almost every one of us can point back to a creative pursuit, in or out of school, that enhanced our skills, knowledge, or understanding.

The Partnership for 21st Century Skills is a national organization that advocates for 21st century readiness for every student. As the U.S. continues to compete in a global  economy that demands innovation, P21 and its members provide tools and resources to help the U.S. education system.

E-magination is a monthly art resource for parents and teachers using the Art in Action program. To suggest events, submit articles, ask questions or give feedback, email us or call 650.566.8339 or 1.888.566.1982.
