The Survey Says....

Good Feedback From Art in Action Users
215 parent docents, school coordinators, principals, and teachers replied to our 2009 school survey. Thank you everyone, who spent time telling us what you think about Art in Action and guiding us in our future development. Here are the highlights:
99.5% are satisfied with the curriculum (61% are "highly" satisfied, and 30% "very" satisfied).
98% are satisfied with the entire program.
94% would recommend the program to other schools, and many actually do. The many comments will help us think about future lesson themes, training improvements, and how to better communicate about the support and services available to Art in Action docents and teachers. Contact us

artshowMonterey County Arts Advocacy Toolkit
The Monterey County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Nancy Kotowski, announced that the Monterey County Office of Education has launched the California Arts Advocacy Toolkit, a resource available for California schools to advocate, rebuild and teach arts in education. California Alliance for Arts Education:
Arts Education Depends on Local Advocacy
As arts education advocates across the state adjust to the new realities of the funding crisis in education, we see the locus of advocacy shifting to the local district level more than in recent years. Many key decisions about arts education funding and support are being decided at the district level, so the Alliance is investing in these ten communities in order to build a model for local arts education advocacy. Ed Emberley's Drawing
Book of Animals
by Ed Emberley
"Emberley takes elementary shapes and shows you how to put them together, step by step, to create stylized but character-filled drawings of animals. His selection is eclectic and the little drawings are great: giraffes, porcupines, raccoons, wolves, dogs, cats, lions, tigers...! It'll kick-start a budding artist, break the 'I can't draw anything' mood everyone sometimes finds themselves in, and is a valuable tool to get kids over the initial inability to draw things that 'look good'."
