Outstanding School Art Show: Arundel
|
Kudos to Site Coordinator Patti Ansley at Arundel Elementary in San Carlos for creative display of student artwork AND for clever ways to educate the parents about Art in Action. The Heart poster expresses the student's opinions in a beautiful graphic design. And best of all, she raised over $400 that night to fund the program for next year.

| Thank You One Brick!
|
Thank you for spending your Cinco de Mayo with Art in Action. These wonderful volunteers helped us finish packing Program 5 - 4,730 pieces of white paper, black and white copies, and color copies for the Remington lesson. They built 110 boxes and filled them with 7 complete lessons. ARTcamp prep began as we sharpened and bundled 552 pencils, packaged 450 small sponges, packaged 300 lids & sponges, sorted 15 sets of alphabet stamps, packaged 270 pairs of scissors, sorted 7 bags of colorful c rayons, bagged a rainbow of color markers, bundled 45 foam brayers, and bagged 150 erasers. Wow, what a job! As a special tribute to One Brick during National Volunteer Week, volunteers created wire sculptures that were totally cool and unique.

The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds The Dot will strike a chord with children who have outgrown the self-assurance of kindergarten and begun to doubt their own greatness. His marvelous watercolor, ink, and, yes, tea illustrations are appealing, especially as Vashti begins to go wild with her dots. The delightfully open-ended conclusion will have readers of all ages contemplating how they can make their own mark in the world. Highly recommended.
