Art in Action Presents Atelier d'Artistes
Join Art in Action on March 10, 2008 at the Sharon Heighs Golf and Country Club for its annual art benefit. This exciting event benefits Art in Action in its efforts to bring art education back to the classroom. Doors open at 10 am to a live studio of local artists painting portraits, landscapes, still lifes and modern art. Bid on packages of wine, events, restaurants, and jewelry, or purchase from creative vendors. Join us for lunch and our featured speaker, Laura Regan, as she tells about her experience as a popular wildlife artist. For more information or to receive an invitation, please email Leighna or call 650.566.8339.

Volunteer Spotlight

A big round of applause to over 30 Curators at Art in Action schools who collect, mount, label and display student art in local public libraries. Every month, a dedicated group of parent curators armed with mounting tape and ladders, gather at 9am to spend an hour turning the Children's Book Area into an art gallery. A big thank you to all of our school curators for their hard work!
E-magination is a monthly art resource for parents and teachers using the Art in Action program. To suggest events, submit articles, ask questions or give feedback, contact us on-line or call 650.566.8339.
Thank you!

Many thanks to The Taproot Foundation for awarding Art in Action a Contact Database Service Grant. Their volunteers are working on a technology project for us that we could not otherwise afford to do.  We appreciate all that the foundation and volunteers do to make nonprofits like Art in Action successful.

Gallery Highlights
Cantor Arts Center

Expore the work of three influential artists in the context of the United States' growing tourism industry of the 19th century. Church, Homer, and Moran traveled the U.S. extensively in search of picturesque and sublime landscapes to paint. Their works, along with guidebooks and travel-related photographs and novels, helped to familiarize American audiences with the nation's scenic wonders. The exhibit includes nearly 70 painted sketches plus studio paintings, drawings, books, and stereographs.

California Arts Council
Through the assistance of the California Channel in Sacramento a public service announcement (PSA) will be available. The PSA, "Kids Come Alive with the Arts," is an animated 30-second spot featuring voice-over by actor and California Arts Council member Annette Bening. The spot emphasizes the importance of the arts for children, and that funding from sales and renewals of the California Arts License Plate goes for arts programs for children and communities.
