PS - Find out what happened when your coach met the Chancellor!!!!!!!!

Greetings!

Rest assured this is a credit crunch and global warming-free zone.   Who wants so much bad news?    I don't know about you but I need another dire warning of economic doom like Duncan Goodhew needs a comb or Sean Connery needs a chest wig.
We can make like an ostrich and bury our heads in our duvets or face our futures fearlessly and full on.   You have a choice. But why not turn futility into fertility and use this time to be creative?
Like a lot of my new clients, for example, who, maybe like you, want to effect some major career changes, get a job they'll love or maximize and improve on the one they already have.
Many of you, it seems, have been suffering great dissatisfaction in your careers and can't see the wood for the paperwork and, working in organizations that put the bored into meetings, is eroding your sense of self.
Work is such an emotive issue and, like money, has a whole unholy host of spooky beliefs around it playing trick or treat with our psyches.  I once came from the "you're not supposed to enjoy work, it's duty, get on with it" school of work wretchedness.  That was until I had this unsightly belief painlessly removed by some amazing laser coaching.

What scary beliefs do you have about work?

Maybe you subscribe to one of the following schools of thought around what work is
  • "It's a means to an end"
  • "Well, it's just a job.  It pays the bills"
  • "It's what my parents wanted for me"
  • "I've never had a clue what I wanted to do anyway"
  • "I can't complain.  At least it's safe" "Where else would I go?"
  • "They might find me out soon"
When Work Isn't Working

A lot of us are saddled with these singularly unhelpful perceptions of labour which often condemn us to a life sentence of anxiety and frustration.
If you limp through your working day using Facebook, cappuccinos, emotional spending and planning your next holiday as your crutch, you may find yourself suffering with some unpleasant side effects.
Credit card debt, sleep problems, weight and health issues, stress and anxiety, low level depression, anger and resentment and the reputation of "broken record" moaning to weary friends and family.
The certainty of misery is infinitely preferable to the misery of uncertainty and that's what keeps people stuck in jobs that are simply wrong for them.
If I had a pound for every client who ever sighed "Well, I sort of drifted into this job/relationship" I would be writing this from my mansion in Malibu.

Ch- Ch-Changes - Time To Clock Off and Check In

Now I'm going to share with you some knowledge that feels counter intuitive for me to impart.  As a coach I don't have within me, my desk drawer or in my magical tool kit the perfect job with your name and requirements written all over it. I can't help you with that.
Yet I may be able to help you find the thing you may have always been looking for.
When I work with clients to help them find a job that feels fantastic, meaningful and as if they've "come home", it's a process that takes time and a lot of soul searching.
I say this because there are no quick fixes to finding something you would fly out of bed to get to each day regardless of the pay check.
A dream job is a blessing and it is also within your remit.  The first starting point in knowing what it is you want to do with the rest of your working life is this - know yourself.
The only way to get what you really want is no know what you really want and the only way to know that is to know yourself.  It is that simple and that complicated.
In order to know yourself you have to be yourself and to trust in what your heart tells you.  It takes courage, time, patience and belief that you'll get there.
You probably already do know what it is you want to do but you have submerged it as it may have seemed impractical, not what your parents would have wanted or you simply cannot see how you could make money out of it.
I guarantee the signs have always been there.
I work with my clients to help them access what it is their heart has always been telling them, to explore it further and to help them come up with real and practical strategies to help get them there.
Let me assure you, there are millions of folks out there doing what they love.  Turning interests and hobbies into lucrative careers, people who can't believe they get paid to do what they do.  People like me and my clients.
I have stood where you are today.  Feeling desperate, resigned, unhappy and yes, scared.  Not knowing what to do next is an uneasy place to be.   Why not do what I did, and scores of others are doing, and dare to look for something better?

"After the first class, this made a big impact on my approach and attitude. This positive approach helped me to be more specific with my aim and objectives, also with my staff management and overall business management.  Thank you. I have started on my daily work out and planning, no more taking paperwork home"
Melva Dawkins, Director, Fairplay Recruitment

" I have to admit to being nervous about coaching by telephone yet you made the whole process a rich learning environment.  Not only would I now say that telecoaching saves time in that you don't have to travel but I gained so much by listening and learning from others in the group"
Susan Henderson, T and C Solutions Ltd

"Thank you so much for your teleclasses.  I have really found them useful in focusing on what is important to me and making that happen.  I found I was more energised and felt I was achieving something positive with direction rather than being blown around by circumstance."

Bug Bear of the Month

This month Stacy of Islington secures herself a session on me by sending me his goat-getting gripe of the month.
"I can't abide anyone spitting whether it's on a football pitch or the pavement.  It's usually men and I can't understand why they need to do it and women don't and how I see it is spitting on the planet so it's not only disgusting but disrespectful too."
Love the sentiment behind this subject.  Thanks Stacy.

Have a powerful month
Your coach

PS  Indulge me.  My husband and I were recently invited for drinks with Alastair Darling at No 11.  It was nice being dust in the corridors of power for a few hours drinking wine with the Establishment, worried looking Treasury folk and mere journalists.  When I was finally introduced to the Muppet eye-browed Chancellor he mused "I've never heard of a lifestyle coach, what is it?"
"I'm not a lifestyle coach," I chimed up.  "That was Carole Caplin - I'm a life coach!" and that was all I could get out before he was lead away by a special advisor.
I shan't give up my day job.
Have fun
