Greetings!
Whether you got sun burn, rust marks or simply browned off this summer your thoughts, like the leaves, will be on the turn. With banks and airlines folding around us, food and fuel prices up and with recession depression kicking in it's not just those agonizing shoes you bought in the summer sales that could have you feeling the pinch. Fear not however. This isn't another feel-bad proclamation on the benefit of thrift (although a reassessment of society's values is no bad thing) and how to feed a family of six on a bit of bacon rind for a week. Nigella in Primark I'm not! No I want to talk about money and abundance and how your attitude to lovely lolly could be keeping you either in profit or in penury.

Rockefeller or On The Rocks?
Money is an emotive issue. "I'm a bit embarrassed this month" folk used to say when strapped for cash. Some see it as "filthy lucre" others as "sugar", "gravy" or "bread" - all delicious things. Which way are you looking at wealth? As a culture we relish looking at the lifestyles of the rich in magazines from Hello! to Tatler. Yet despite the yachts, designer duds and whitened smiles we pacify ourselves with the sad old belief that the Croesus crowd are "probably not really happy though." But the bad news is the rich are happy! Often deliriously happy and they have the money at their disposal to fulfill their dreams. Of course they have all the same issues we do; worry about health, families, deaths, traumas, achievements, the usual life crises. But they do it in luxury. I know which of the two that I would prefer.
I'm with George Bernard Shaw when he said " Lack of money is the root of all evil" and sometimes we don't even need that much more to make a huge difference in our lives and well being. The small change of Simon Cowell could be enough to move some families from queer street to easy street. Now I'm not a big fan of clichs so I am going to skip, for your benefit and mine, all those worthy and wise platitudes about money not buying love, friendship and spiritual harmony and yes, one can be as happy with a glazed caramel Dunkin Donut as with a Tiffany ring (or so I've heard - ahem!). I am also assuming you are adults in search of some change in your life (otherwise you wouldn't be reading this) and I don't want to argue the toss on the infinitesimal joys, beauty and blissful moments that come in life for free. We can access those and those who can't at the moment should book a session with me ASAP. Email me now [email protected] to book a 30 minute telephone consultation on me.
No, I want for you and for me is a life free from financial stress, worry and deprivation. Never having quite enough money can set up a life of fear and caution. It keeps people slaves to dead end jobs, dead beat relationships and mind sets doomed to a poverty of option, possibility and imagination. Money buys you choice. A business client I am coaching literally talked herself into a recession by worrying about the news headlines so much she wanted to close her business and take up a "McJob". It wasn't until I pointed out that she was attracting deficit instead of abundance in her business and asked her to look at how her beliefs were affecting her business did the "Ah-Ha!" moment occur. Now she's actively using the current climate to create new offers, market herself differently and set up a new mind set of opportunity and attraction. The economy didn't change, she did and now business is growing again.

Psyche Sit-Ups Vs Credit Crunch
So here's a work-out for your mind-set which may be keeping you stuck in breadline thinking as opposed to being fiscally fit. Read these common statements: o I wasn't born wealthy so I'm never going to be rich o Lucky breaks happen to other people o Wanting a lot of money feels wrong and greedy o Nobody would like me if I was rich/ successful o I wouldn't know how to spend it o I'm frightened of money/I don't know how to handle it o If money comes easily it's not worth anything o Money slips through my fingers o I feel guilty when I'm well off and others aren't o I don't deserve money If even one of these statements resonated with you then you have a flaw in your thinking that could be bankrupting you in more ways than you know. | |

Time To Dig For Gold
To help you be free of the pauper in your personality here is some homework for you to do which will help you unravel some of the idea you are holding on to which could be holding you back. Complete these phrases: Money is - ? Money is like - ? Making money is - ? Spending money is - ? Having money is - ? Write it out and you see before you the beliefs that could be holding you back. Beliefs are not real, they just feel that way and sometimes they can be entirely false. They are just different messages you picked up as you have gone through life and then used them as a filter in which to view the world. Working with a coach is a great way of unearthing limiting or damaging beliefs which could be stifling or sabotaging your progress. Oh and by the way, in all this recession I have had the most successful summer ever businesswise and I daren't even tell you what my beliefs were in spring this year!
