I have been asked many times in the past week about how to plan a trip to InfoComm. If you are an old-timer trying to get more out of the show - good for you!. InfoComm is more than acres of cool exhibits. There are enough networking, training, learning, and social events to fill up anyone's calendar. The show floor is open starting Wed June 18 at 9:00 am and closes Friday June 20th at 4pm. But before you book your trip,
look at the complete show schedule at this link. I recommend arriving on Tuesday and attending the Opening Night reception. Even if you are new to the show, you will find someone you know there. Ask folks why they come to the show and what they hope to learn. Use this information to build up your to-do list for the coming days. There are other
Special Events you might be interested in.
Plan on taking at least one seminar. There's bound to be a topic that's important to you.
To take a peek at all the classes, go to this link. Some classes are offered by InfoComm and others by various show partners. You can register for any of them via the
registration website. On
Wednesday I recommend
Anatomy of a Las Vegas Staging Event or
Lighting Design 101 or
How to Train Rental and Staging Staff. On
Thursday there's my course
Rental & Staging Business Survival Kit. There's also
Introduction to Live Audio Gain Structure. On
Friday, don't miss
Basic Networking and WiFi for Events.
Check with your manufacturer representatives about events they may be holding or new products they will be announcing. Don't be surprised that just by asking you get invited to a reception, dinner, party or a private screening of a new product.
You can find the
exhibit floor guide at this link. I find that by perusing this in advance and marking companies I don't want to misss, that I make better use of my time on the floor. There are also a number of
Special Exhibitions that you might miss if you don't know they are there. The
Rigging & Staging Demos are back this year as is the
Large Venue Display Gallery. Don't miss
InfoComm Central - this is where you can learn more about how to maximize your show and membership experience. Learn about Certification, Standards, Education, the
new online social networking tool being unveiled this month.
Finally, don't miss the
Rental & Staging Forum and Reception at 2:30pm on Wednesday in Hilton Ballroom A. Also, the
Rental & Staging's Product Awards and
Lighting&Sound America's Staged Events Awards are being held on Thursday at 3:30 pm on the InfoComm Central Stage. Find me at one of these events and I will introduce you to someone you need to know.
