Changes to Working with Children Check in NSW

Soccer
Changes have been made to the Working with Children Check in NSW as part of the NSW Government's response to the Special Commission of Inquiry into Child Protection.

From 31 March 2010, adults who volunteer their services to provide personal care for disabled children and who are involved in mentoring programs for disadvantaged children will require a Working with Children Check before they can commence in these roles.

There are also a number of other changes. Click here for more details.
Additional Funding Coming Soon under the Youth Development and Support Program

Piggy in grassThe Federal Government has announced additional funding of $700,000 to support organisations across the country to help provide positive development opportunities for young Australians.

The funding will be allocated through the Youth Development and Support Program, which funds community organisations to run a range of community-based small scale projects for the benefit of young people. This funding is in addition to the $500,000 provided by the Government to support 24 Youth Development and Support Program Projects in 2009.

Did You Know....?

Our website can help you develop a training program for your mentors?

WorkshopWhether you are providing the training in-house or out sourcing it to an external trainer, you will still need to consider what type of issues you would like to be covered in the training sessions. How long will you run your sessions for? Will your mentors complete training before meeting their mentee? Our website has a number of resources which can help you develop your training program.
 Sincerely,
