Youth Development and Support Program Funding Round for 2009-2010
The Youth Development and Support Program strengthens the capacity of eligible organisations to support initiatives that inspire and encourage young people aged between 12 and 25 years to develop skills and connections within their communities.
The Program will provide funding to eligible non-government, not-for-profit organisations to deliver a range of community-based, small scale projects that will involve productive participation and encourage social inclusion of young people.
A total of $500,000 is available to support eligible organisations to deliver projects for implementation in 2009-10. Eligible organisations are invited to apply for the level of assistance appropriate to the scale and scope of their proposed project, up to a maximum of $75,000.
Funding for projects will be determined through an open, competitive selection process. Eligible non-government organisations seeking support for a project must read the Program Guidelines and submit an Application Form.
Applications for the 2009-10 funding round must be received by the closing time of 5:00pm on Wednesday, 4 November 2009.

Latest Research |
Jean Baldwin Grossman has just released a methodological brief 'Evaluating Mentoring Programs' aimed at providing both program operators and researchers with practical advice about how to assess a program's implementation and impact.
Most programs conduct evaluation as part of their funding requirements and focus only on outcomes for the young person but don't necessarily look at whether the process or structure of the program has a bearing on the results. This article discusses both process measures: the program's actions and outcome measures: the effects the program has had. This article is an adaptation of an earlier article which first appeared in The Handbook of Youth Mentoring (DuBois and Karcher, ed. 2005).

Mentoring Stories! |
|
Peter and Vince
Peter and Vince are from the Break Through Mentoring Program, which is a youth employment mentoring program linking disadvantaged young people with employment mentors who are currently employed in the local community.
Vince became a mentor with the desire to "pay forward" his experience of being mentored when he was younger. Peter, who received little encouragement from those around him to find employment, was open to the concept of mentoring, but admitted he was not sure of what to expect. His main concern was that he would be matched with a mentor that was 'mean' and judgemental.
Vince has helped Peter become more motivated, confident and driven.

Remember, there is no cost involved in the program registration. By registering your program details on our online database, you will also be adding your voice to the growing number of youth mentoring programs demanding that funding bodies take a more serious look at mentoring.
