Evaluation, Redesign and Planning for 2009!

It is that time of year where programs are winding up, the end of year program celebrations are happening and we take a moment to look at all that the programs have achieved over the year. Once the dust has settled and the last piece of cake has been eaten you might want to sit down and complete your OSAT assessment. It is the perfect time to reflect on how your program is travelling and what areas you need to focus on redeveloping over this quieter time. We know your time is precious and that is why we have extended the OSAT Competition. Complete your assessment before the 28th of November and you'll go into the draw to win some great gift vouchers which you could use over this holiday season.

Here at the YMN we are already well into our planning for 2009 and here is a sneak peak of things to come:
  • More training workshops for experienced practitioners
  • More Mentor Summits
  • More factsheets
  • More FREE resources
  • And lots more

so stay tuned!

OSAT Competition Extended

Thank you for completing OSAT!

Birthday CakeThe OSAT competition is being expended until November 2008. With spring upon us, now is a great time to start using OSAT or re-use OSAT to determine whether you are still achieving each youth mentoring benchmark standard.

OSAT allows program staff to assess how well they are achieving each benchmark standard via a ratings system. Programs are then able to identify areas of strength and weakness. If an area of weakness is identified, programs can access specific resources to assist with further development in this area to ensure an overall high quality program. Programs can complete the assessment at 1 point in time and compare their results in 6 or 12 months time. They can also anonymously compare their results against all other programs that have completed the tool.

As an added incentive to use OSAT, if you login and complete OSAT by 28th November 2008, you will go into a draw to win a gift voucher.  First prize will be a $50 gift voucher from Coles Myer and second prize will be a $20 gift voucher from Dymocks. Winners will be notified in December and will also be announced in the December 2008 newsletter.

If you have misplaced your username and password, please email us at info@youthmentoring.org.au and we will email you your login details. Hurry, you must complete OSAT by 31 October 2008 to be in the draw!

Perth to Paradise Update

Perth to Paradise
Jack has cycled into Surfers Paradise to finish his epic across Australia bike ride - cycling 4,500 kms in just 30 days to raise funds and awareness of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Australia.

We would like to congratulate Jack and his family. Jack is a great example of how one person's determination can make a difference for other people. You can now view a video of his ride on our website. The video is a wonderful snapshot of the journey from start to finish!

If you have a creative way to promote any mentoring programs in Australia please email us. We are keen to hear your ideas.
