Youth Mentoring Network Factsheets for Mentors
The Youth Mentoring Network will be producing a series of factsheets to help mentors deal with issues which may come up when speaking with their mentees. The second factsheet is now available on our website!
Factsheet 2 - Building Relationships, contains information and ideas to encourage a meaningful and fulfilling relationships.
Factsheet 1 - Adolescent Issues has also been updated and is also available to be downloaded.

Become a Youth Mentor Volunteer!
 To celebrate Victorian Youth Mentoring Week, we have added a new page to our website! This page lists current volunteering opportunities in youth mentoring programs.
If you have you thought about becoming a youth mentor or want to help a young person fulfil his or her potential and discover their strengths, now is the time to become a volunteer youth mentor!
If you are a mentoring program and would like to list your volunteering opportunities on the website, please follow the link below.
Victorian Youth Mentoring Week
Victorian Youth Mentoring Week was held from Monday, 30 June 2008 to Sunday, 6 July 2008. The highlight of the week was the Volunteer Mentor Summit which was held on Saturday, 5 July 2008. The Summit gathered selected mentors to represent regions across Victoria to celebrate their contribution, share highlights and challenges and develop guidelines for better mentor support.

OSAT Competition |

Thank you for completing OSAT!
The OSAT competition is now closed. Thank you to all those who completed OSAT during May and June.
We have drawn the winners of our OSAT competition and would like to congratulate the winners, Tracy Dunn and Sharon Terry.
Tracy Dunn is from the Break Through Youth Employment Mentoring Program. This mentoring program links disadvantaged young people with employment mentors who are currently employed in the local community.
Sharon Terry from Vehicle to Success which is a mentoring program for young disadvantaged people who are unemployed. It aims to provide an effective role model for each participant to assist them to identify their dreams and goals and to plan for a positive pathway into employment.
Congratulations again to Tracy and Sharon!
Even though the OSAT competition has now closed, OSAT is always open.

Training for Mentor Program Coordinators Survey
 The Training for Mentor Program Coordinators survey and competition is now closed.
The YMN wants to thank all the program coordinators who completed the survey. Their responses were invaluable in providing us with information to provide the best way to further their professional development.
Look out for the survey results on the Youth Mentoring Network website soon! The winner of the survey competition will also be announced in next month's newsletter.
National Mentoring Centre Publications
The National Mentoring Centre has recently updated and revised several of their key publications. These publications offer practitioners a research-based model for designing and implementing successful youth mentoring programs. The Centre has updated the following publications:
