Australian Research

A new article has just been published called Inspired Learning: creating engaged teaching and learning environments for university and school mentor programs, co-written by Catherine Koerner and John Harris. Published in the International Education Journal, the article looks at the effect of the Inspire Peer Mentoring Program (Inspire), which operates at the Flinders University in Adelaide, on the local community.

The article uses the experience gained from Inspire to discuss the higher education sector's involvement in school-based mentoring programs as a strategy for community engagement. The article also provides a case study of the adoption of the school-based mentoring model by the Teachers Experience Office of the School of Education at Flinders University as one example of how mentoring is being embedded within faculty programs.
