 Women Who Make a Difference

wwmd 2010

Sustainers,

Thank you for your continued support throughout the year. We could not make the impact we do without you. WWMD is our last fund raising event of the year. The committee has done an excellent job thus far. We are in the home stretch and we would benefit greatly by having you with us on Sunday. We are honoring one of our own leaders, Claudia Kitchens. Please join me in making this day a success.

With kind regards,
Erin Knight

Sustainer Orchid tripRF Orchids and El Toro Taco Day
We had a lively group of sustainers join together on Saturday, February 20th for a tour at RF Orchids followed by lunch at El Toro Taco. Bob Fuchs gave us a personal tour of the grounds at RF and we might even have done a little shopping as well! On to El Toro Taco where all things Mexican were consumed, and to complete our day in Homestead, most of us went to Robert is Here fruit and vegetable stand for some fresh perishables and took our bounty back to Miami! This was a keeper event - we'll definitely have it on the sustainer calendar for next year. Below are a couple of pictures from the day. Pictured are: Ellen Oppenheimer, Anna Elhert, Margaret Nee, Tita Ellis, Jeanne Aragon, Mary Lynch and with her back to the camera but with spectacular blonde hair - Janice Russell.

Antique Roadshow
Ellen Oppenheimer of WLRN fame and a sustainer gave us the heads up that Antique Roadshow will be coming to Miami Beach on Saturday, July 10th. There is a volunteer opportunity available that comes with two items being 'evaluated'.

Rules: MUST attend training on July 9th from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, must work from 6:30 am to 7:00 pm at Miami Beach Convention Center. We are waiting to hear about parking costs. You will be provided an Antiques Roadshow t-shirt, breakfast, lunch, and snacks, AND volunteers may bring two items to be "evaluated" -it is not a real appraisal. Ellen says- "My friends who have done this event say it is great fun!"

If you have an interest in participating in a volunteer capacity please email Ellen.

Did you know that Anna Ehlert received the National Society of Colonial Dames National Honor Roll for ten years of leadership as President of the Miami Town Committee and three years of hard work as Chair of the Patriotic Services Committee? Anna is passionate about packing and mailing boxes to our servicemen and women who are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Congratulations Anna!
