The second annual Spearhead Open Golf Tournament, presented by Carolina Holdings, is coming up this month. Thirty teams will tee off April 27th on a pristine course at Thornblade Country Club. The event precedes the BMW Pro Am Tournament by a week. The Open is expected to raise more than $50,000 in camperships for individuals attending Camp Spearhead's residential summer camp program and the Weekend Programs. Many thanks to our golfers and sponsors who have graciously stepped up to the plate to help our special campers during these trying economic times.

| Did You Know... |
That we have updated the rules for the playgrounds? Playgrounds are the first amenity we put in a park and they are also the number one liability. So when you and your family visit our parks take a moment to read the rules. We want your experience in Greenville County Recreation Parks to be memorable and safe.

| Outdoor Adventure |
Thank you to all who participated in our Outdoor Adventure Online Survey.
This summer we plan to launch a new program initiative that will help connect you with a variety of outdoor adventures including kayaking, mountain climbing, hiking, biking and much more. This initiative will target all populations with a special emphasis upon our community center youth. The opportunity for outdoor fun is abundant in our county and we want everyone to access and experience it.

| Parks Foundation |
Be looking for The Greater Greenville Parks Foundation new website www.gonnalovethisplace.com. The site is an online opportunity for donors to help support various needs of the Recreation District. The current need of the District is to continue to raise support for Camp Spearhead. The new website will allow you to do this through sponsoring various amenities from bunk beds to dining tables at the camp's new site which is currently under construction at Pleasant Ridge Park.
You may be asking, "Where did you come up with the name for the website?". Those of you who have visited the camp's existing home on Hwy 276 will remember that as you drive through the gates you are greeted by a series of individual signs that say "your... gonna... just...love...this... place". We'll let you know when the site is up and going.

| Almost There |
We are excited to announce that five miles of the Greenville Hospital System Swamp Rabbit Tram Trail is scheduled to be paved at the end of this month. In the meantime the trail remains a construction zone and is not open for use. You'll be the first to know when it is. We will keep you posted.
The process of paving a 10 mile road, complete with 8 bridges, that goes through wetlands and runs along a river is incredibly complicated and requires permitting and cooperation among many agencies ranging from the Army Corp of Engineers to DHEC and then some. Your patience is appreciated. We're getting there. |
| Way Finding |
|
Keep your eyes out for our new wayfinding signs complete with our new agency logo. The signs bring us up to national standards. The first signs will go in near our MESA Soccer complex to welcome thousands of visitors expected to attend upcoming spring tournaments at the complex. |
