Adventures In Rec Header
A Word from the Director

It's mid-February, and here in the deep south we are beginning to enjoy some very nice days.  Why not take advantage of the beautiful weather and visit one of our many parks?  You could take your children to Herdklotz Park and enjoy the great playground and take a walk on the trails while enjoying beautiful views of downtown Greenville and Paris Mountain; check out the construction under way at Mesa Soccer Complex; or enjoy a game of tennis on the recently renovated courts at our very first park, Butler Springs.  The possibilities are endless and they are all a part of your Greenville County Recreation District park system.

Speaking of Green

Our agency is thinking green these days and not just about the color of our parks. We're recycling everything we can at our administrative office and facilities. As stewards of your parks we believe that being green is the way to go.  We hope that you will join us at home by taking a little extra effort to separate your trash and become more mindful of our environment.  Visit Greenville County's Solid Waste Division for a list of recycling drop off locations.

Winter Scene

A dusting of snow last month turned historic Slater Hall into a beautiful winter scene.  If you are unfamiliar with Slater plan on dropping in on the annual Strawberry Festival held at the park on April 17. The event is sponsored by Slater Health and Human Services and raises funds to assist this agency with its work.

Spirit Week Success

Cheers go out to Hillcrest High School students, family, and friends who worked together and raised $113,175 towards Camp Spearhead's Capital Campaign. It is humbling for us to see how many individuals out there recognize the value of this program. The Spearhead family thanks all of you who are helping to build a new camp and make our dream become a reality.
